Provides crisis services and investigates all child abuse andneglect allegations within Venango County. The agencyalso delivers ongoing case management services to allfamilies open for services, and offers independent livingservices to qualified youth. CYFS actively recruits andmaintains licensed resource families for children whenplacement is necessary. Venango County Children andYouth case management services conduct home visits,assess the safety of children, and refer children/family toappropriate services within the community while striving10

to achieve safety and permanency for all children.814-432-9100Drug and Alcohol Prevention – Venango County Drug andAlcohol Program provides school and community-based Alcohol,Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) prevention and educationservices. These programs are designed to reduce individual andenvironmental risk factors and to increase protective factors.814-432-9100Early Intervention Services – Early Intervention providessupport and services to infants and toddlers from birth toage three who have special needs due to developmentaldelays or disabilities. Early Intervention services occur inthe home or other natural environments. There is no costto the family for the evaluation and services if the childqualifies.In order to qualify for Early Intervention, an intake andevaluation are completed with the child and family todetermine strengths, needs, and eligibility. If a child has amedical diagnosis that puts him/her at risk fordevelopmental delays or if a delay of at least 25% (-1.5standard deviation) is exhibited in one or more of fivedevelopmental areas.Early Intervention services can begin to support the child’sdevelopment. The five areas of development that areassessed include: physical, communication, cognitive,adaptive, and social-emotional skills. Along with casemanagement, Early Intervention can provide otherservices as needed; such as physical therapy, occupationaltherapy, speech therapy, special instruction, vision,hearing and nutrition. 814-432-9100Foster Care Program – Provides licensed homes that11

Community Support Services (CSS) – Provides a variety ofservices to assist families and individuals in ways that helpthem alleviate day-to-day stressors. Older Adult Services –The primary goal is to foster andmaintain independent living for older county residents byactive planning, coordination, and resource management.Protective services, assessment, and on-going servicecoordination are provided to older adults. Additionalservices are provided indirectly by subcontracting withprivate vendors. 814-432-9711Adult Daily Living Program – Adult Daily Living facilitiesare available to provide a means to improve the olderadult’s level of functioning in order to maintain theirindependence in their home and community. Legal Assistance – This counseling focuses on legal issuesconfronting the elderly including: benefits and rights, wills,taxes, and any miscellaneous services. 814-432-9711SHARE Housing – SHARE (Shared Housing and ResourceExchange) is a program available to senior citizens age 60and older in Venango County. Shared Housing is a housingoption that focuses on the needs of older adults. Senior CentersSenior Centers provide recreational, leisure time andcultural activities for members of the community over theage of 60. Activities may include planned arts and crafts,sports, physical fitness, and cultural enrichment to aid inthe development of social skills for individuals withdisabilities by providing opportunities. Additional servicesoffered at the centers are designed to encouragefunctioning in community life. Venango County Mental Health (MH) is a part of Countygovernment and provides services to children and adultswith mental health concerns without discrimination.
