Rule 3, Section 3A: The 12” Fast Pitch ball will have thefollowing specifications: Size: 1 1 7/8 – 12 ¼, Weight:6.50 oz – 7.00 oz., Compression: 275.0 LBS – 375.0 LBS,COR: . 470 Max, and Dynamic Stiffness: 7500 LBS. Max.Comment: Creates common specifications for the 12”Fast Pitch ball for USA Softball, NCAA and NFHS. B SELECT PROGRAM (10U, 12U, 14U)u Teamsmust be created and approved bya Recreation League.u Tryoutscan be held any time after leagueregistration begins.u Leaguedetermines if players arerequired to participate in league play ornot.

B SELECT PROGRAM (10U, 12U, 14U)u Teamscannot have players whoparticipated on any team outside of theirrecreation league or Select B team afterMarch 31st, whether with USA Softball orany other sanctioning body.u Playereligibility may be appealed to theJO Commissioner.u Playerscan play in more than one recleague but can only try out for oneleague’s Travel Program.

HIGH SCHOOL “B” PROGRAM(14U, 16U, 18U)uCanform under the High Schoolcategory and do not have to becreated by a recreation league.No limit on number of highschools.uTeamsmay not try out, practiceor participate together prior tothe last Saturday in April.

B OR C ALL-STAR PROGRAM (8U,10U,12U)uTeams must be created and approved by arecreation league.u10U and 12U. League must form a “B” team priorto forming any “C” teams, unless approved byUSA Softball of Northern California. No teams areclassified “C” until they are classified “C” by NorCal.uAll players must have participated in therecreation league.uTeams may not tryout, practice or participatetogether prior to the last Saturday in April.

8U TRAVEL TEAMSu Recu NoLeague based only“A” or “B” 8U teamsu Rulesfor Association Championshipswill be posted on Nor Cal web site andcan be adopted for tournament play.

INTERLEAGUE ELIGIBILITYThe purpose of the Interleague Policy is to assist thesmaller leagues that do not have enough willing/ableplayers to create an All-Star team to compete in USASoftball’s Championship Season. The following Policies& Procedures must be followed:ua) ALL Interleague All-Star play is subject tosanctioning by Nor Cal.ub) Interleague teams must compete in an approvedinterleague schedule to be eligible for InterleagueAll-Stars.uc) Eligible interleagues must have an open andannounced selection process with participantsrecorded.

INTERLEAGUE ALL-STARELIGIBILITYud) Leagues participating in interleague play havingsufficient players to form their own All-Star teamcannot participate in Interleague All-Stars.Exception: Players not making their home league’sAll-Star team may participate in interleague AllStars only if the interleague team does not haveenough players to form a team and only when ALLother players are selected.ue) Interleague All-Star teams will be classified perRegion 10 guidelines.

NOR CAL USA SOFTBALL PREQUALIFIERSuThe requirement to play in at least one USASoftball Pre-Qualifier Tournament prior to theNor Cal Association Championships is waived for2022.uTeams that do play will be given first priority toregister for Nor Cals. This includes tournamentshosted by other USA Softball associations as longas they have been designated as Pre-Qualifiers.

DEFINITION: CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYChampionship Play is a tournament or competitionfrom which the winner and other selected teams mayadvance to higher levels of play of USA Softball.The following events are considered Championship Play:u LocalAssociation Championshipsu Regional Championshipsu Territory Qualifying Tournamentsu Western National Tournamentsu National Championship Finals

ROSTERS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYuThe roster deadline for Championship Play is 24hours prior to the start of Championship Play.uOnce a team has competed in any Championshipevent the player is frozen to that roster and may notcompete with another USA Softball team until theoriginal team is no longer eligible for ChampionshipPlay. If a player leaves a team after ChampionshipPlay participation, they may not join another teamuntil the original team is no longer eligible forChampionship PlayuOnce a team plays in Championship Play that team’sroster is then frozen and the only way additionalplayers can be added is on a Pick-up Player form.uNo longer “Add” players once you have competed inChampionship Play.

PICK-UP PLAYER RULESØPick-up players must be registered during thecurrent season at least seven (7) days prior tothe start of the National Championship Final.ØIf Pick-up player is coming from a USA SoftballRegistered team, that team must no longer beadvancing in Championship Play, unless thatplayer has been released.

PICK-UP PLAYER RULESPick up players must be from the team’s sameor lower classification. Exception: Players whoare age eligible may be picked up by a lowerage classification team.uGold and “A” can pick up from own Regionu “B”u “C”can pick up from own Associationcan pick up from AssociationChampionships or from within your league
