AWR is designed to be lightweight and to auto aticallystorage space, ensuring that it does not put additionalanage its use ofanagge ent burden onad inistrators.AWR for s the foundation for all the self- anage ent functiionality of Oracle Database.It is the source of infor ation that gives the database a histoorical perspective on how itis being used and enables it tofor the environ ent that systeperfor ance baselines. The AWR dataprovides container-specific data that represents individual PDDB’s contribution to thewhole database instance; therefore this data is useful for botth the CDB and the PDBad inistrators. If there are conditions specific to thee datacenter those needs toonitored, ad inistrators can define newetrics for anyonitored target usingetric extensions. If an alert has a well-known re ediation solution, then ad inistratorscan setup corrective action scripts that will auto atically exeecute and resolve the alertwhen it is detected, therebyini izing the need foranual intervention. In addition,alert history is also easily accessible to enable ad inistratorss to see what actions havebeen taken in previous occurrences of the alert.The desiredonitoring settings for a target can be defined innaonitoring te plate, oneonitoring te platess for different target typeste plate per target type. When a set ofare bundled together into a te plate collection and associateed with an ad inistrationgroup, then the deploy ent ofonitoring settings across targets is fully auto ated byEnterprise Manager. Specifically, when a target is added to an ad inistration group, theonitoring settings associated with the group are auto aticaally applied to the target,thereby strea lining and si plifying the process ofOnceonitorinng setup for targets.onitoring is in place and events are detected and raissed ononitored targets,notifications for these events can be sent to the appropriate ad inistrators.
