2Overview:What is an industry-recognized certification/credential?Industry-recognized certifications/credentials offer a strategy for improving instruction and signaling that students haveacquired a defined set of technical skills and knowledge. The benefits of industry-recognized credentials are many: High schoolCTE programs that lead to certificates and industry-recognized credentials can help young people find skilledemployment and give them the option of later returning to school for a higher degree. Employers also benefit from amore highly skilled workforce with certifiable skills.Each industry-recognized certification/credential is aligned to specific programs of study. For example, Adobe Photoshopis an SQRP eligible certification for students who were part of the Digital Media pathway because it is a credential that ishighly valuable in that industries especially when coupled with the student’s training in the field.Are the certifications listed the only ones available for students?No. These are the certifications that are the primary focus of the curriculum and represent a standard of industryvalidation and economic value to students. These student have been approved to count as an Early College and CareerCredential as a component of a school’s SQRP rating. There may be other certifications that are included within anindividual CTE pathway’s curriculum, but will not count on SQRP.How has/will remote learning due to COVID-19 impact the availability of these certifications?We are working to ensure as many certifications are available in a remote setting as possible. For some, it is simplyimpossible to demonstrate proficiency in an online environment.
