National Technical Honor SocietyThe LACC chapter of the National Technical Honor Society has welcomed 43 new members. These members haveshown attributes which the organization represents: scholarship, honesty, responsibility, good character, leadershipattendance and enrollment in LACC programs.NTHS provides opportunities for scholarships, future employment references and possible employment searches for allmembers. Livingston Area Career Center AlumniOver the last 51 years, thousands of Career & Technical Education students have walkedthrough the LACC doors and into the “real” world. We have students that go directly to the work force,the military, trade schools, community colleges, and 4 year universities. We are equally proud of allLACC graduates. We wanted to take the time to recognize just a couple of our wonderful alumni, andacknowledge the work they’ve put in towards a successful future.lllHaley Lenox is a 2017 graduate from PTHS & theLACC Early Childhood Education Program. Haley wentthrough E.C.E. I & II, and is now studying elementaryeducation at Millikin University. While in E.C.E, sheparticipated in an internship at Central School. Shealso went back to the same classroom at Central foran internship while in college. Haley is set to graduatefrom Millikin in 2021 in Elementary Education.Mason Vilt is a 2018 graduate from PTHS & theLACC Criminal Justice Program. Mason took bothCriminal Justive I & II. After graduation, he enlistedin the United States Army as a Military PoliceOfficer. He attended “One Station Unit Training” atFort Leonard Wood Missouri from July 16th toDecember 6th, 2018. What’s Happening Around the LACCCriminal Justice – Taking Learning to New HeightsThe Criminal Justice II students are enrolled in Drone Pilot Ground School. Drones have become a go-totool of law enforcement and other first responders. Drones provide a vantage point not available from theground, and allow responders to canvas a much larger area in a shorter time. Areas of the online curriculumcontent students are learning include: Drone rules & FAA Regulations, Nationals Airspace System (NAS),Reading Sectional Charts, Airport Operations, Weather & Micrometeorology, and Drone Flight Operations.Students will have hands-on opportunities to pilot drones and to participate in simulated search and rescuescenarios. The unit is designed to prepare students to test for and acquire their drone pilot license.CNA & Medical Terminology – Guest SpeakersOur CNA and Medical Terminology students are lucky to have had a plethora of guest speakers come totheir classes this year. We greatly appreciate guest speakers taking time out of their work day to come andpresent to our students. Thank you all!Automotive & Diesel Technology – Caterpillar InternshipsStarting in February, a portion of our Automotive & Diesel Technology students were transported toCaterpillar in Pontiac to begin a bi-weekly internship. The “Introduction to Manufacturing Lab at Caterpillar –Pontiac” was started in hopes of preparing students for a potential career with Caterpillar, or a future in themanufacturing industry as a whole. The labs that the students will go through are as follows: Robotics,Precision Gauging, Weld Simulator, Engineering, and Machine Shop.
