ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY - BEEBEUniversity Catalog 2017-18ASU-Beebe’s MissionArkansas State University-Beebe operates under the policies of the Board of Trustees and President of theArkansas State University System. Programs at ASU-Beebe function separately under the leadership of theChancellor. As an operationally separate institution of the ASU System, ASU-Beebe consists of campuses atBeebe, Heber Springs, Searcy, and locations at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Cabot HighSchool, and Lonoke High School. Concurrent classes are held at over a dozen high schools while onlinecourses are available to students world-wide. ASU-Beebe collaborates with Arkansas State University, a fouryear institution in Jonesboro, to offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees on the Beebe campus through onsite, interactive video, and online instruction.As the oldest two-year institution of higher learning in the state, ASU-Beebe has a long history as a studentcentered university, dedicated to meeting the needs of its students with high quality programs in a friendlyatmosphere. Although primarily attended by commuters, it is also the only two-year institution in the statewith residential housing. The University values its students and strives to meet their individual needs. Also,ASU-Beebe values hands-on educational activities and considers its communities to be active partners indeveloping student skills. ASU-Beebe is committed to community engagement and encourages interconnectedactivities. These general educationoutcomes clarify into measurable terms the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that students will achievethrough the successful pursuit of an associate degree. Specific learning objectives developed for eachcourse link directly to the general education outcomes. Course level assessment is designed to ensurethat, as an educational institution, we are continually improving student success in obtaining the generaleducation outcomes, as well as knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to the chosen vocation. The Little Rock Air Force Base Center of ASU-Beebe offersclasses on an alternative schedule, including eight, ten, and sixteen week classes. The calendar may be viewedon the website at www.asub.edu.
