Energy Label4 5Sample energy label for dishwashers:The new Energy Label:Valid from 1st March, 2021.1BoschSMS8YCI01EABBTechnological development over the past few years has resulted in a higherconcentration of products that carry labels with a value of A or better.Consequently, the label has not been fulfilling its original function as an aid formaking purchasing decisions as well as it formerly did. Other basic conditions likeuser behaviour have also changed. That’s why it’s time to adapt the existing energylabel. The first home appliances to have the new label will be washing machines,washer-dryers, dishwashers, cooling appliances and wine coolers. As of 1st March,2021, these appliances must show the new label when sold in shops, online, etc.CDE2FG65100kWh3The energy efficiency class for dishwashers continues to bebased on the “Eco” programme. However, the test standard hasbeen changed. For example, coffee cups, stainless-steel pots,and plastic utensils will be used to determine cleaning and dryingperformance to better reflect actual usage behaviour. What‘s newis the specification of the duration of the Eco programme. Thisprogramme is especially eco-friendly, is ideal for normally soileddishes and is the most efficient programme in terms of “energyand water consumption”. However, for resource-saving cleaning(with less consumption of electricity, water and detergent), youhave to give these components a certain amount of time todevelop their full effect. As with washing machines and washerdryers, energy consumption will be based on 100 cleaning cycles.Key12The test programme for labelling washing machines and washer-dryers is alsochanging. The new “Eco 40-60” programme will be displayed on the appliancepanel. In addition, these devices have now an even higher requirement for theirwashing performance, as well as a minimum requirement for their rinsing effect. Fordishwashers, the composition of the standard place setting will also be changed.For these and other reasons, it is not possible to directly convert the currentefficiency classes to the new classes. In addition, you will also be able to retrievefurther product information directly via a QR code that is displayed on the energylabel.
