A Message from the Presidentand the Executive DirectorThe needs of our community are growing in complexity requiringresponses that are equally multifaceted. Jewish CommunityServices, since its inception in 2008, continues to expand andredesign its services to effectively meet the challenges facingindividuals and families today. Partnerships with other serviceproviders are essential to addressing the wide range of issues.While each organization works tirelessly to fulfill its mission, weare surely “Stronger Together” when we combine our efforts tohelp people live better lives.We could not be “Stronger Together” without all the dedicatedpeople who join with us to make positive change, including ourBoard of Directors, The Associated, our staff, our volunteers,and all of our community partners – donors, service providers,community organizations, employers, congregations, schools,elected officials and more.Thank you to everyone who unites with JCS in working towardthe vision of a community in which every person is able toachieve his or her highest quality of life and well-being.Harriet BergPresidentBarbara Levy GradetExecutive Director

“Individually, we areAging in Place Safelyand With DignityWith increased longevity, elders are a growing segment of our community.JCS is dedicated to helping older adults age-in-place safely with maximumindependence and dignity. Service coordination, counseling, therapy andcare management, as well as support services for Holocaust survivors, areoffered by JCS, in collaboration with our myriad partners – LifeBridgeHealth, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, CHAI:Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc., CHANA and others. We joinwith these partners to connect older adults to available assistance andresources, provide help for those experiencing memory impairment andcreate a safe haven for victims of physical and psychological abuse. JCS offers services that address a variety of lifechallenges, including unemployment, financial instability, food insecurityand disabilities. Our Career Center provides comprehensive employmentservices for job seekers of all abilities and skill levels. Emergency financialand food assistance help families weather economic crisis, develop a planfor regaining self-sufficiency and connect to a range of supportive resources.JCS residential and community-based services provide opportunities forpeople with special needs to maximize their independent living skills, learn,work and participate fully in community life. Partnerships, including thosewith Ahavas Yisrael, the Community College of Baltimore County,the State of Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services, theBaltimore County Department of Planning and more than 1,000local employers, provide resources, supports, education and training tohelp make our community stronger and more resilient.Financial Assistance 2,614,490 provided tohelp 1,640 individualsService Coordination1,537 clients

JCS offers a range of programs and services forchildren, teens, adults, seniors and families that address issues throughoutour lives. Through collaboration with organizations including the JewishCommunity Center, Sol Levinson & Bros., Inc., Seasons Hospiceand Palliative Care, local congregations and more, members of ourcommunity find guidance for navigating the “oys ” and joys of parenthood,receive comfort and support when grieving the death of a loved one, learnhow to avoid risky behaviors by making healthy choices and engage intikkun olam (repairing the world) through volunteerism.
