2021 Kiowa County Fair & Rodeo QueenKiya LeonardWelcome to the 2021 Kiowa County Fair &Rodeo. I am Kiya Leonard and I am the2021 Queen. I am the daughter of YondaLeonard and David Walker. I am 17 yearsold and a student at GOAL Academy. I havebeen involved with Kiowa County Royaltysince I was 8 years old and I love being ableto represent this amazing Community and itscitizens. I am member of the Sheridan LakeLivewires 4-H Club, with Breeding Goat,Market Goat, Market Swine, and Horse formy projects. I would like to thank everyonewho has supported the Kiowa County FairBoard and the Kiowa County Fair Royalty,this year. I hope everyone will come out andenjoy all the activities. Kiowa County Fair & RodeoRoyalty ContestSunday , August 22, 2021 6:00 p.m.Kiowa County FairgroundsRoyalty Coordinator:Yonda Leonard 719-940-9663 The Kiowa County Fair & Rodeo Royalty Contest will be heldon Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Kiowa CountyFairgrounds at 6:00 pm for the purpose of choosing theKiowa County Fair & Royalty for the following year.Royalty contestants must be a Kiowa County resident.Age requirements: Senior 15-23 (single), Junior 9-14, andTiny Tot 5-8. Age is determined as of the date of the contest.Notice of the contest will be published two weeks prior to thecontest.Contest will be conducted by a person appointed by theKiowa County Fair Board and parents or caregivers of currentRoyalty with appointee as Chairperson.Approved patterns will be used for the horsemanship contestand will be 50% or the contestants total score. Poise andpersonality will be 25% and appearance 25%. A contestantmust score at least 60% of the possible points in eachcategory (horsemanship, poise, personality, and appearance)to qualify for Senior Royalty. Proper fitting tack will beincluded in the appearance section.Patterns will be sent to any interested person at any timeprior to the contest by calling the Royalty Coordinator.Proper Royalty attire, including long pants, long sleeved shirt,hat, belt, and boots are required. Chaps are optional.Judge’s nots will be available after the contest WITHOUTscores. Score sheets will kept confidential until the crowningof the Royalty on Saturday of the Kiowa County Fair &Rodeo. Judge’s decisions are final. Any undue criticism, byany person associated with a contestant, will result indisqualification of said contestant.The Royalty will be crowned at the Rodeo of Saturday afterall the other dignitaries are introduced (so as not to confusethem with current Royalty). Sash and buckles will bepresented at this time.The new Royalty reign will begin October 1 and run throughSeptember 30 the next year. Royalty may serve consecutiveyears in the same position at the discretion of the KiowaCounty Fair Board.The Junior and Tiny Tot Royalty are requires to attend theKiowa County Fair & Rodeo and participate in the Paradeand Fun Day.The Senior Royalty is required to attend four (4) rodeosduring the reign, which includes the Kiowa County Fair &Rodeo, as well as participate in the Parade and Fun Day.Mileage will be paid as follows: Senior Royalty - 500.00,Junior Royalty - 250.00, and Tiny Tot Royalty - 150.00.This will be paid upon completing all requirements andreporting to the Kiowa County Fair Board at the Octobermeeting.(End of Royalty Contest)3

4-H EXHIBIT DAYAugust 2, 2021Eads Community Building10:00 a.m.: Interview/Judging begins - FashionReview judging will begin immediately after all other general projectjudging is done.5:30 p.m.: Exhibits open to the public6:00 p.m.: Fashion RevueAwards ProgramFood AuctionAll 4-H Projects shown at Exhibit Day must be exhibited at theKiowa County Fair to receive premium money and project completion. Projects must be in place by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday September 9, 2021.Exhibit day classes are listed in this section. For exhibit requirements,the Colorado State Fair Syllabus will be used. 4-H Leaders and theExtension Office will have the information you need. You can also findthe Syllabus online hibitReq.pdf Judging will include evaluation of the exhibit and an interviewwith the exhibitor. Each member will bring their exhibit to thejudge to be judged according to the interview schedule. Thosewho are not present for the interview will not be eligible forawards or premium money. Exception may be made only byadvance written request from the exhibitor and parent in case ofhardship.All ribbon premiums will be paid in Eads Shopping Bucks andpaid out at the conclusion of the Kiowa County Fair.Premiums and ribbon for completed projects will be awardedusing a modified American/Danish system, as it follows theColorado State Fair system. A judge may award more than oneBlue/ 1st ribbon if the quality of project requires; however, onlythe top entry per class may be deemed eligible for State Fair. Ifthe top exhibit is awarded a red/2nd ribbon, it is eligible for StateFair only on conditions established by the judge and ExtensionAgent.The 4-H Council will seek sponsorship of awards for each division as determined by the Extension Office. To be eligible for anaward , a project must have received first place AND ProjectChampion. A Reserve Champion ribbon will be given as well,but they will not receive an award.All exhibits must be in place by 10:00 a.m. on exhibit day andcannot be removed until after the Food Auction that evening.An Awards program will be held to recognize winners followingthe evenings Fashion Revue.Food and Cake Decorating 4-H Projects exhibits will be auctioned during the Food Auction, following the Fashion Revueand Awards Program. Consignment of the an exhibit is optionaland encouraged, but not required. Three percent (3%) of thesale price will go to the Kiowa County Memorial ScholarshipFund and the remainder to the member. In order to receive acheck for Food Auction items. Each exhibitor is required tocomplete a “Thank You” card for the Purchaser. Thank youcards must be dropped off to the Extension Office in aSTAMPED envelope. The Extension office will address andmail. You will have until, September 3, 2021 to PICK UP andCASH your check from the Extension Office.
