Catechism Corner by Kacey Carey , DREAnyone who has ever given a dinner party canrelate to today's gospel. Even though one invitesguests, the process can be frustrating. Some willnot bother to RSVP, preferring to just drop by or notshow up at all. Others won't commit until the lastminute in case something more interesting comesalong. Some picky people won't commit unless theyknow who else is invited, so as to not socialize with"undesirables". Others will bring along an uninvitedfriend and fail to bring a dish to share. Some guestsrudely arrive an hour or two late. All of thesescenarios mean a host does not know who willshow up and how to keep the food warmedindefinitely. The wedding feast parable is obviouslymeant to be heaven with many invited guestshaving better things to do than go there. Although itis hard to believe that people would prefer goinganywhere else, the clue is the lack of appropriatedress. Unlike a casual dinner party, intentionallydressing for heaven means one is prepared to bethere. It means one puts on Christ, attempting tolead a life of discipleship. It means we plan to bethere, not leaving our lives to happenstance orchance falling out of grace. When we get ourinvitation to the wedding banquet, let's RSVP rightaway. Party of One kindly accepts Our Lord'sinvitation!"I put the Helmet of Salvation on my head to bring itover my eyes, nose , ears and mouth. I put thebreastplate of Righteousness over my heart.
