The minister, using athumb and index finger, secures a pinch of ashes from thevessel. Without using words, the minister then sprinklesthe ashes on the heads of the recipients. Please rememberthat the reception of ashes on Ash Wednesday is not required. Whether participating in this ritual or not, all ofthe faithful are urged to undertake penitential practicesduring these Lenten days. The 2021 Diocesan Lenten Appeal is offering parishioners throughout the Diocese of Greensburg a chanceto “Be the Light” for their faith community. February 14, 2021, Sixth Sunday in Ordinary TimeOpening Hymn: In Christ AloneIn Christ alone my hope is found, he is my light, my strength, my song; this cornerstone, this solid ground, firmthrough the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, whenstrivings cease. My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.Penitential Act (Recited)I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and inmy words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through mymost grievous fault, therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers andsisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.Gloria (recited)Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adoreyou, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of theworld, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right handof the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the MostHigh, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.Responsorial Psalm: I turn to you, lord, in time of trouble, and you fill mewith the joy of salvation. (recited)Gospel Acclamation (Sung):“Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia”HomilyCreed (Recited)I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believein one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Lightfrom Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all thingswere made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of theVirgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated atthe right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom willhave no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to theresurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.Prayers of the Faithful Response (recited): Lord, Hear our prayerCommunion Hymn: Taste and see(Refrain) Taste and see, O taste and see, taste and see the goodness of God.Glory, glory to God most high, glory blessing and praise. With one voice, O people rejoice in our God, who hearsthe cry of all in need. O (Refrain)Who has fashioned the earth and sky, who created the deep, who exalts the lowly and sets captives free, whoopens the door to all those who seek. O (Refrain)Closing PrayerCLOSING SONG: as Christ is for usIn the bread we share with the hungry, in the help we give to the poor, in the kindness we show to thestranger we find Christ the open door. So we rise with him each morning, and we work, as work wemust, to be Christ for others as Christ is for us, to be Christ for others as Christ is for us.
