Structures System OverviewBuild bridges, cranes, catapults and roller coasters.Numerical displaysof load cell forces aregenerated in PASCOCapstone Software.Experience real-world design buildinga large variety of structures. Thisreconfigurable system allows studentsto measure static and dynamic forcesusing load cells and still have time toredesign and test again.(See page 17)Load Cell & Amplifier Set(See page 4)Large SlottedMass SetSPARKlinkGraph showsdisplacement ofbridge as a functionof hanging mass.MotionSensorAs the car crosses the bridge, the forces measured by each load cell aregraphed in real-time in PASCO Capstone . Structures System OverviewOnly PASCO allows students to construct an endless array ofstructures and measure forces on them in real time.Imagine Design Analyze Trusses, bridges, roller coasters, cranes, booms, human models and much more can all be quickly built and analyzed. Far moreadvanced than toothpick models and much more hands-on than computer simulations, PASCO Structures are ideal for real-worlddesign.And the ease of use of PASCO Structures Systems allows students to quickly build, test and then redesign their structures quicklyand efficiently which supports the engineering process.Designing and buildingstructures is simple andeasy.I-beams fit into connectorsand are secured with thumbscrews.Load Cells are then plugged into a LoadCell Amplifier which connects to a PASCOinterface which is connected by USB orBluetooth to a device running PASCOsoftware.(See interfaces page 17)877.373.0300 (inside US)Load Cells measure thecompression and tension and may be placed anywherein your structure.PASCO software then allows students toview a graph of the forces in real-time andanalyze the resulting data with a suite ofpowerful tools. PASCO Capstone runs on Macor Windows Computers. SPARKvue softwareruns on computers, iPads, Android tablets, orChromebooks.(See software page 17)916.462.8383 (outside US)3

Load Cells and AmplifiersChoice of Load Cell Amplifiers:Load Cell Amplifier(6 ports)Dual Load Cell AmplifierPS-2205PS-2198This Load Cell Amplifier can accommodate up to six load cellsand only needs a single PS-2100A USB Link (p. 2) to connect toa computer. Useful for doing an extensive analysis of a bridge byinserting six load cells at various points in the structure. The Amplifier accepts either the 100N load cell or the 5N load cellor a combination of both. The maximum data sample rate is500 Hz for each port.Use for applications where only one or two load cells areneeded, such as measuring the force on the track at the top ofa roller coaster loop. If you only want to examine the forces ina bridge one at a time, you can move a single load cell aroundin the bridge. The Amplifier accepts either the 100N load cell or the 5N loadcell or a combination of both.
