Pasco Hernando2011 2012 Catalog and Student HandbookCommunity College[ARCHIVED CATALOG]Information for New ApplicantsNew College and Technical Credit StudentsCollege Catalog/Student HandbookStudent ID CardsAssistance GuideNew College and Technical CreditStudentsFirst – Apply for AdmissionStudents must submit the application online with a 25 non refundable fee through PHCC’s website atwww.phcc.edu/wise/.Then – Submit TranscriptsAll degree seeking students, College Credit Certificate seekingstudents, and limited access technical certificate applicantsmust submit either an official high school transcriptconfirming graduation or official GED scores indicating theaward of a high school equivalency diploma, official transcriptsfrom each U.S. college or university attended and officialscores from external agencies as appropriate (i.e., AP, CLEP,IB, etc.) to finalize admission to PHCC. Transcripts should besent to the Office of Admissions and Student Records, WestCampus, New Port Richey. Official transcripts must arrive in asealed envelope from each issuing agency or institution.Apply for Federal Financial Aid/Veterans BenefitsStudents are strongly encouraged to apply for federal financial aid by applying directly on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Anyapplication for financial aid should be completed by at least six weeks before the deadline date when registration feesare due. Applicants for Title IV Federal Aid (e.g., Pell Grant and Stafford student loans) must submit either high schooltranscripts or GED scores indicating successful program completion to the Admissions and Student Records Office atthe West Campus, New Port Richey. Students in eligible technical credit programs must submit a high schooltranscript, GED or, if applicable, appropriate College Placement Test (CPT/P.E.R.T.) scores. Contact one of the PHCCFinancial Aid Offices or Veterans Administration advisors with any questions.Complete or Submit Placement TestingStudents planning to enroll in degree programs and/or college level English and math courses must submit placementtest scores no more than two years old on any of the following exams: American College Testing (ACT), ASSET, CollegePlacement Testing (CPT/P.E.R.T.), or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). At the appointment, the advisorwill review a student’s test scores and provide program and course information, as well as assist the student withpreparing for transfer to upper level institutions.Register for ClassesRegister online through the Web Information System for Education (WISE) or in person in the Student DevelopmentOffice on any campus. Students should check the academic calendar for appropriate registration dates.Last – Pay for Tuition and FeesStudents may pay tuition and fees online through WISE or may choose to use the Tuition Installment Plan (TIP) atwww.phcc.edu/tip/. Students also may pay at the College Store on any campus (VISA/MasterCard are accepted).Separate checks are required for course fees and books.College Catalog/Student HandbookThe College Catalog/Student Handbook is the official document that outlines the requirements and regulations forPHCC students, subject to changes and additions approved by the District Board of Trustees. It is the responsibility ofeach student to be familiar with and understand these requirements and regulations.For graduation purposes, a student has the option of remaining under the catalog provisions in effect at the time ofinitial enrollment at PHCC or any subsequent catalog, provided the catalog is no more than three academic years old inthe term in which the student meets all graduation requirements. A catalog year ends on the last day of classes in TermIII.Student ID CardsAny currently registered student enrolled in at least one College, technical (PSAV) or preparatory credit course iseligible to receive a PHCC Photo Identification Card. Student IDs are optional, but students must have one to check outlibrary materials.Each student, faculty or staff member will be issued only one free card. The card is valid for the academic year in whichit is issued.Identification cards are available from any campus library during posted hours.
