Vision from Our FounderDr. Dong Sun LimWMU FounderWorld Mission University was founded by Reverend Dong Sun Lim on his firmdetermination and belief that “The Global Village is My Ranch”. There was no place toofar or remote to take the message of the gospel. Founder Dong Sun Lim was a life-longmissionary who had a passion to take the message of the gospel to the ends of the world.Founder Dong Sun Lim’s desire was to raise up Christian leaders with a strong desire toexpand the kingdom of God. World Mission University was established to train pastors,missionaries and lay leaders.Founder Lim’s vision was to establish a quality educational institution both academically and spiritually.“The reason I founded this school was to train faithful pastors, passionate missionaries, and lay leaders. WhatI dream for this school will not be achieved overnight. My hope and prayer is that World Mission Universitywould become a Korean Harvard, a Korean Yale, and a Korean Princeton in the near future”. (Dong Sun Lim,Retrospect and Prospect, 2000).Through a shared and united vision for the school, the leadership of World Mission University stands committedto realize/expand the vision that founder Dong Sun Lim had for the institution and what God has in store for ourfuture.6

When themeeting adjourned, the seed that would becomeWorld Mission Theological Seminary had beenplanted. In March 1989, World Mission TheologicalSeminary started with thirty-two students and Rev.Dong Sun Lim was appointed as the first President.World Mission Theological Seminary wasauthorized to issue the Master of Divinity and Masterof Arts degrees in 1991, and the Bachelor of Artsdegree in 1992 by the California Department ofEducation. In 1993, the name of the institution waschanged from World Mission Theological Seminaryto World Mission University to reflect the school’sbroader offering of programs.Articulation AgreementWorld Mission University has not entered into anarticulation or transfer agreement with any othercollege or university.Location and FacilitiesIn August 2003, the institution moved to a newlocation in Koreatown, a center of downtown LosAngeles. In 2004, World Mission Universityachieved Candidate Status from the Association forBiblical Higher Education.
