Miconic TX advanced universalelevator group controlSophistication with versatilityMiconic TX delivers unbeatable traffic handling inmid- and high-rise buildings with groups of up to8 cars. It is ideally suited to residential buildings, offices and hotels.Miconic TX employs a very refined algorithmand its ‘cost of service’ strategy minimizes bothwaiting and travel time for all passengers.Miconic TX can be provided with a broad rangeof customer-specified enhancements. SchindlerLobbyVision permits the owner to place cars inor out of service, select secure floors and defineregular printouts of elevator performance data.Miconic TX can be provided with Variodyn ACVFor solid state SCR DC drives. Miconic TX is alsocustom tailored for application in modernization.– Multi-voltage, high current input/output permitseasy retention of older car and landing fixtures.– Configurable parameters permit easy applicationwith all types of existing DC motors.ACVF drive configurationDC drive configurationBenefits of Miconic TX– Very low average waiting times– Shorter travel times at peak periods due tofewer stops– Even distribution of passengers between cars– High system redundancy, so the group controlstill functions if one car is switched out– Smooth change-over between normal trafficmode and up or down peak– Adaptive distribution of free cars– Adjustable full load bypass– Anti-nuisance car call cancellation– Superior floor-to-floor ride comfort via a fullydigital interface with the drive– Equipped with Schindler RemoteMonitoring (SRM).Applications– Group size: 1 – 8 cars– Maximum stops: up to 63– Operation: geared or gearless traction.Options– LobbyVision building management system– Front and rear entrances– Split-group operation for serving separatesegments of total rise.Schindler Miconic TX3

Miconic TX control featuresUp peak featureMiconic TX detects the increase in traffic fromthe lobby that marks the start of an Up Peakperiod. It now instructs the cars to return to thelobby after each completes its assigned calls.Only one waiting car opens its doors at a time, ensuring each departing car fills quickly. Thefull-load threshold and door open time can alsobe increased. Miconic TX continually reassessespassenger traffic volumes to ensure that the besttraffic mode is operational. Even during Up Peakperiods it considers counter-direction traffic andensures continuity of service.ABCDABCDCDDown peak featureOnce Miconic TX detects Down Peak traffic itstarts to assemble down-calls typically in groups of2 to 4 floors. An assigned Down Peak elevator willcollect one call group, descend to the lobby andreturn for another. Journey times are shortenedby the greatly reduced number of stops per cycle.Passengers on lower floors benefit — they areno longer kept waiting due to lack of space indescending cars. Even in Down Peak situations,counter-direction calls are not ignored.Distribution of free carsRapid response to new calls is assured bydistributing free cars to prioritized positioningzones. As a car becomes free it moves to thehighest priority unoccupied zone, and positions atthe floor most likely to receive the next hall call.Split group featureA Miconic TX group can be programmed tooperate as two individual sub-groups, eachone serving its own segment of the building’soccupants.Priority 2 zonePriority 3 zonePriority 4 zonePriority 1 zoneA4Schindler Miconic TXB

Cost of service algorithmEach Miconic TX control monitors its own carposition, passenger load and in-car calls. Thegroup bus tells it the currently registered hall calls.Miconic TX already has data on acceleration, deceleration and door operating times. Fromthese, the system calculates, for each landingcall, the extra journey time for passengers alreadyin the car if it should answer that call. It alsocalculates the waiting time for the passengers itpredicts will be at each active hall call. The sum ofthese two times is the Total Cost of Service.Up peak service in operationMiconic TX has assigned cars A, B and C to uppeak traffic.– Car A is waiting at the lobby with doors opento receive a full passenger load.– Car B is delivering passengers on its upwardjourney and will return directly to the lobby.– Car C has delivered its passengers and isreturning directly to the lobby.– Car D is completing calls that existed above thelobby and were assigned during a cyclic scan. All the Miconic TX controls in the group bid theirtotal costs of service, and the one with the lowestbid is assigned to the call. Because the call list isconstantly changing, the calculation is complex, and Miconic TX reviews its car assignment optionsmany times per second. Each assignment is finallyconfirmed once a car begins deceleration toanswer a hall call.Down peak service in operationMiconic TX has assigned cars A, B and C to downpeak traffic. It has analyzed the current landingcalls and assigned each car to a group of 2 or 3floors.– Car A is collecting passengers from floors 9 and8, then going directly to the lobby.– Car B is collecting passengers from floors 7, 6and 5, then going directly to the lobby.– Car C is collecting passengers from floors 4, 3and 2, then going directly to the lobby.– Car D is handling inter-floor traffic.Demonstrated performanceThis demanding real-life test for Miconic TX involved heavy mixed trafficto and from every one of the building’s 15 floors. The results show howwell Miconic TX performed. More than 50% of calls were answeredwithin 10 seconds, and 70% within the 20 second optimum time period.90% came within a comfortable 40 seconds. In any hotel or officebuilding this performance would be rated outstanding.Building height15 floors100Elevators in group4 cars9080% Calls OutstandingDistribution of free car in operation– In this light traffic situation, only cars A and Bcurrently have passenger assignments.– Car C has been assigned to wait at the lobby, which is the highest priority zone.– Car D has moved to the zone designated nextin priority, and has positioned at the floor thatMiconic TX calculates most likely to receive thenext hall call.Trip frequency 240 per hr706056% Answered504070% Answered302090% Answered101020304050Waiting Time (Sec)6070Schindler Miconic TX5

Miconic TX architectureDistributed controlAny one of the Miconic TX controls can operateas the Group Master. So the group will continueto operate normally if any individual control isswitched out. Each control is linked by its own busto its car computer and drive control. Along thisbus Miconic TX informs its drive of assigned stops, instructs the car to operate doors, and receivescar calls. Controls communicate via the groupbus, which also carries incoming hall calls. Theycan also link via a gateway to the building bus forremote monitoring and control.main software memory remains unchanged duringcustomizing. This protects the essential coreoperating system while allowing full flexibility toaccept future options.Smart softwareSoftware controlled options — such as VIP andemergency functions — are downloaded fromthe extensive Schindler software library into theirown customized control memory.
