PROGRAM OVERVIEWAU Business Students can now par3cipatein a summer business consul3ng program in Seville, SpainStudents will spend five weeks in Seville, Spain and will apply their academic knowledge on a team consul:ng projectwith a client based in Seville. The goal of this program is to help students acquire the hands-on experience employersand grad schools seek I'm working in teams of three or four students per consul:ng project. These consul:ng projectsare for real Spanish companies that may include anything from business planning marke:ng planning, from productanalysis to budget analysis, or anything in between. Spanish is not a requirement for this program. However, studentswith Spanish-language competency will have mul:ple opportuni:es to prac:ce the language.Cultural tours and ac:vi:es are interwoven in to the trip. This is a unique opportunity to interact withbusiness professionals and strengthen teamwork and leadership skills while immersing oneself in the localculture.

Consulting ProjectsTeamsStudents will work in teams of three or four on a specific consul:ng project for an actual Spanish company.SectorsGlobalEd has a strong rela:onship with the business community to include such sectors as: Tourism, Interna:onalRela:ons, Manufacturing/Industrial, Service Providers, Startups, IT/E-commerce, Engineering, Architecture, HealthCare, etc These rela:onships have led to many collabora:ons with our study abroad programs to include guestspeakers, site visits and internships all geared to expose our program par:cipants to the"real world” helping themdevelop hands-on experience, marketable skills and a confirma:on of their career interests.ProjectsThe types of consul:ng projects can range anywhere from preparing a business plan, performing a marke:ng plan,product analysis, financial/budget analysis.The Placement ProcessDetailed descrip:ons of consul:ng projects will be proposed to the faculty program leader for approval prior topromo:ng to students.

TeamworkIn order to work well in teams and become an effec:ve leader, one must know his/her own strengths and pi alls,understand the complexity of team dynamics, as well as develop the cultural framework for understanding andapprecia:ng cultural values. The Myers-Briggs tool will be used to facilitate self-awareness and how to work beaer inteams. Students will perform a test online prior to arrival and will receive the results of their Myers-Briggs personalityprofile during their onsite session aber learning about the elements of personality, based on Carl Jung, andperforming a self-assessment.

TEACHING FACILITIESGlobalEd uses various facili:es within the city of Seville to meet the learning objec:ves and budgetof each faculty-led program. Standard ameni:es typically include Wi-Fi access, classroom space,whiteboard, and overhead projector. Team-based projects that require students to work in teamsunder the supervision of a faculty/program adviser will typically have access to open work spaces,wi-fi, mee:ng rooms and presenta:on rooms.The availability of facili:es will vary depending on a variety of factors, such as: faculty preferences,program enrollment, dates, teaching :mes, co-working schedules, required equipment, programdura:on, program ameni:es and budget. Examples of facili:es include: the University of Sevillecampus, EUSA campus, professional co-working environments, language learning centers, hotelconference centers, GlobalEd offices, etc. All of these op:ons can be explored to adapt to thebudget and requirements of each program.

EXCURSIONSIn southern Spain, along the Costa de la Luz, you will find the beaches of Cadizwith its 260 kilometres of coastline and some of the most beau:ful beachesyou could imagine. This Andalusian province is washed by the Atlan:c Oceanand the Mediterranean Sea. It has many protected nature areas which includesalt flats, sand dunes, pine forests, pastureland where figh:ng bulls are reared,springs, cliffs. Here you will also find small fishing villages and tradi:onalfishermen, with their whitewashed houses and peaceful streets. You can enjoytheir crab and sports shops, restaurants offering excellent, local fresh fish andshellfish, and open-air terrace barsSpend the weekend in Granada, an evoking city where mul:ple civiliza:onsthat once lived on Andalusia soil leb a cultural legacy that is a marvel of theworld. The Alhambra is the joy that crowns this beau:ful city at the foot of theSierra Nevada mountain range.

STUDENT HOUSINGWe consider housing accommoda:ons to be a key element to the success of any study or work abroadexperience. For this reason, we place considerable importance on understanding each student’s lifestyle andinterests and by carefully selec:ng each placement taking into considera:on proximity, experience,ameni:es and past program evalua:ons. All placements typically have WIFI access and include reasonableuse of u:li:es. Housing assignments are communicated prior to arrival in the form of a housing sheet andare designed to match the needs and expecta:ons of each program par:cipant. The detailed informa:on inour housing sheets describes the housing accommoda:on, ameni:es, occupants, loca:on, descrip:on ofthe neighborhood and a distance chart to local points of interest.Family LivingLiving with a local family is a wonderful opportunity to improveyour language skills and to expose oneself to local foods andcustoms. Most of GlobalEd’s families have received interna:onalstudents in the past and enjoy the daily interac:on. FACULTY HOUSINGThe cost of faculty housing is included in the program fees paid by students. The most common housing placement forfaculty leaders is an independent, one bedroom or two bedroom, self-catered apartment. Programs that have twoteachers ini:ally share an apartment (separate rooms), however, they can be placed in separate apartments providedstudent enrollment reaches a minimum of 16. While the op:on to live with a host family with a full meal plan isavailable, faculty tend to prefer the independence of the self-catered apartment. All placements typically haveWIFI access and include reasonable use of u:li:es. Housing assignments are communicated prior to arrivalin the form of a housing sheet. The detailed informa:on in our housing sheets describes the housingaccommoda:on, ameni:es, loca:on, descrip:on of the neighborhood and a distance chart to local points ofinterest.Self-catered ApartmentsLiving in a self-catered apartment provides faculty withmore independence and privacy than living with a localfamily. All apartments include reasonable use of u:li:esand Wi-Fi access (unless otherwise stated). She has a degree in Spanish and Business from Indiana University, aswell as a cer:ficate in Russian language and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Linguis:c, Literary,and Cultural Studies at the University of Seville.Carlos Heredia, Seville Program AssistantCarlos is a na:ve of Seville and has been working in the field of study abroad since 2009. Carlos is apassionate traveler, loves mee:ng people from other cultures and enjoys performing language exchangeswith visitors to Seville. Carlos has worked for CEA and GlobalEd as well as other organiza:ons in thetourism and study abroad sector managing ac:vi:es, excursions and the housing experience of programpar:cipants.Juan de la Fuente, Career Development DirectorJuan is from Seville, Spain and has been working in the study abroad sector since 2005 in various roles,including study center director and career development instructor. He has an undergraduate degree inlegal studies from the University of Seville and an MBA from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide. Hecompleted a Master in Educa:on with a concentra:on in Bilingual Voca:onal Training.Alejandro Varela, Cultural CoordinatorAlejandro was born and raised in Seville, Spain, and loves gegng to know other cultures and people fromall over the world. He has a degree in Art History from the University of Seville, and a Master’s degree inDesign. For over a decade, he has been working in the study abroad sector. He hopes to con:nue helpingstudents explore and discover the history and culture of Spain.
