Cisco Unified Wireless Network ElementsMobility PlatformThe Cisco Unified Wireless Network comprises fiveinterconnected elements (client devices, a mobilityplatform, network unification, world-class networkmanagement, and unified advanced services) thatwork together to deliver a unified enterprise-classwireless solution. Beginning with a base of clientdevices, each element adds capabilities as networkneeds evolve and grow, interconnecting with theelements above and below it to create acomprehensive, secure WLAN solution (Figure 1).Cisco offers a wide range of WLAN products to supportthe five interconnecting elements of the Cisco UnifiedWireless Network.Cisco Aironet Access Points and Bridges provideubiquitous network access for a variety of indoor andoutdoor wireless environments. Cisco Aironet accesspoints offer secure, manageable, and reliable wirelessconnectivity with robust capacity, range, andperformance. They support a wide array of deploymentoptions such as single or dual radios, integrated orexternal antennas, and rugged metal enclosures. CiscoAironet access points deliver the versatility, highcapacity, security, and enterprise-class featuresdemanded by WLAN customers. These access pointscome standard with plug-and-play wireless features forzero-touch configuration.Unified Wireless Network SolutionsCisco Aironet lightweight access points operate inconjunction with Cisco wireless LAN controllers and theWireless Control System (WCS). Autonomous accesspoints are manageable via CiscoWorks Wireless LANSolution Engine (WLSE) or CiscoWorks WLSEExpress.
