INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTSHISTORYFounded in 1876, Edgbaston High School for Girls (EHS) is the oldest independent day schoolfor girls in Birmingham. The School is very pleasantly situated next to the Botanical Gardens,1½ miles from the city centre. There are over 870 girls aged 2½ to 18 divided into fourdepartments working together on one site. Continuity of education is a key feature of EHS,but girls can join at different stages of their academic career.GOVERNANCEThe Council, which is the School’s governing body, actively supports and encourages thework of the School. In the last eight years over six million pounds have been spent on majordevelopment and refurbishment programmes.MODERN AND AMBITIOUSPupils enjoy a broad-based programme which substantially fulfils the requirements of theNational Curriculum and extends beyond it. Examination results are very good with highgrades distributed across both Science and Arts subjects. Staff and parents work closelytogether so that each girl can develop her individual gifts to the full.PUPILSEdgbaston High School has approximately 870 girls aged 2½ to 18 across its Pre-Prep,Preparatory, Senior and Sixth Form Departments. Around 500 of these are in the SeniorDepartment. The School attracts girls both from the immediate neighbourhood and all overthe West Midlands. They come for the high academic standards, the lively programme ofco-curricular activities and for the individual attention and flexibility of approach.

ICT TECHNICIANJob DescriptionTitle of post:ICT TechnicianHours:8.15am – 4.45pm (full time with 1 hour lunch break)Relationships:Responsible to:Network Manager and Head of IT Systems, Management andDevelopmentJob Purpose: To assist the Network Manager and the Head of IT Systems, Management andDevelopment in keeping hardware/software/network in good working order. To check and maintain the school’s ICT resources for safe, effective use by pupils andstaff. To keep appropriate records of hardware and software, and of support requests andactions taken. To support pupils and staff in the appropriate use of ICT. Support the school iPads and MDM systems (LightSpeed and JAMF). Support with video streaming and filming of school assembly and events.

JOB DESCRIPTION CTNDTechnical Skills Required: Strong technical ability with knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardwareand software. (Windows 10, Microsoft Office, TEAMS, ClassNotebook, MacOS) Excellent problem-solving skills. Good communication skills. Organisation skills in relation to systems, users and equipment. A methodical and disciplined approach. The ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines. The ability to work alone or as part of a team. An awareness of health and safety.Personal Skills Required: Willingness to learn new skills. Willingness and adaptability in tackling the variety of tasks arising in a schoolenvironment. Comfortable working with children and adults.Responsibilities and Tasks:1. iPad TechnicianTo be responsible for the deployment/rollout and management of the school iPads.To be the main contact point for troubleshooting technical issue with iPads andarranging repairs.Administration of the schools MDM systems for deploying apps and profiles to iPads.Maintain accurate audit date in relation to the iPad devices.

JOB DESCRIPTION CTND2.Hardware/Software/Network Support Support teaching and administrative staff and pupils in the use of ICT resources. Create new user accounts as required and perform routine maintenance tasks foruser accounts. Set up IT equipment as and when required by staff. Setup, deployment and technical support of iMacs and Windows devices3.Resource Management To maintain an inventory of all software and hardware in liaison with the NetworkManager. Ensure printers are stocked and resources available Logging support tickets and keeping accurate up-to date audit data4.Maintenance & Security Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures. Help ensure the physical security of hardware. Complete daily job / task checklist to ensure smooth running of system andresources.5.Video Streaming of Eventsa)Taking responsibility for the technical setup of live streaming software anddevices for school assembly and events. Including occasional requirementsfor evening or weekend cover for school open days.b)Assisting with filming of school events6.e-Safety Monitor in accordance with school policy.7.Health & Safety Ensure basic safety checks are carried out on all equipment. Follow relevant H&S procedures and raise awareness among staff, pupils andother users.8.Strategy & Planning Identify and notify Network Manager of possible ICT requirements and solutions. Attend Department meetings when requested.9.Personal ICT development Attend relevant courses to improve ICT skills.10.Educational Awareness Attend and support staff training sessions, to increase personal understanding ofhow ICT is used in specific contexts. Support students and staff with making best use of technology for teaching andlearning.
