TheCollege has approximately 80 full-timefaculty as well as a number of wellqualified part-time and adjunct facultymembers who serve Oregon Tech studentswithin HAS majors. The College alsois responsible for providing the generaleducation core curriculum courses of all ofthe academic programs.The College of HAS is home to nearly1,700 students and has room forsignificant growth in undergraduateA total enrollment of almost 5,400 allowsfor an engaged learning environmentdistinguished by small classes and astudent-to-faculty ratio of 15:1 at OregonTech’s two campuses and other teachingsites. Dean of the College of Health, Arts and Sciences Searchand graduate programs, especiallyin addressing needs of the rapidlyexpanding fields in medical technology.Currently, the College has undergraduateprograms in Biology-Health Sciences,Communication Studies, Dental Hygiene,Diagnostic Medical Sonography,Echocardiography, Emergency MedicalServices Management, EnvironmentalSciences, Applied Mathematics, MedicalLaboratory Science, Nuclear Medicine andMolecular Imaging Technology, PopulationHealth Management, Applied Psychology,Professional Writing, Radiologic Science,Respiratory Care, and Vascular Technology.Three graduate programs are offered inAllied Health, Applied Behavior Analysis,and Marriage and Family Therapy.Two new academic programs have beenapproved. The Applied Mathematicsdepartment will begin offering a DataScience degree in Fall 2020. It is the first ofits kind in the state of Oregon.Additionally, the Higher EducationCoordinating Commission of Oregon(HECC) has approved the University’sfirst doctoral program - the Doctor ofPhysical Therapy (DPT) - in partnershipwith Oregon Health & Science University(OHSU). Approval by HECC allowsthe University to apply for approval tooffer the degree from the NorthwestCommission on Colleges and Universities(NWCCU) and accreditation from theCommission on Accreditation in PhysicalTherapy Education (CAPTE), which is thelast procedural step.The approval of the DPT program wascatalyzed by the strategic partnershipagreement signed in 2017 between OregonTech, OHSU, and Sky Lakes MedicalCenter to promote and accelerate ruralhealth initiatives. The first cohort ofstudents is expected to enroll for the 202122 academic year.In Oregon Tech programs, students learnthe theory and skills associated with aparticular career and then apply whatthey have learned in clinics and extensiveexternship experiences. Students gainexperience working with state-of-the-artequipment and are prepared to succeed inthe workforce upon graduation.Recently, the Medical Imaging Departmententered partnerships with Konica-Minoltaand Mindray for new state-of-the-artimaging equipment. These corporatepartnerships provide valuable opportunitiesnot only for the medical imaging program,but also for other departments in theCollege and across the University.As part of the requirements for theApplied Behavior Analysis degree, facultyand students work together at an ABAclinic providing services for children withintellectual and developmental disabilities.Similarly, the Dental Hygiene Departmentoperates two dental clinics with a full-timedentist. Academic experiencethat merits tenure within a HASdepartment at the rank of full professor isrequired.Other Required Qualifications: A proven track record of successfulJoanna Mott, Ph.D.Provost and Vice President for Academic AffairsJoanna Mott, Ph.D., was appointed Provost and Vice President forAcademic Affairs for Oregon Tech after a national search in 2019.When announcing her appointment, Oregon Tech President NagiNaganathan noted that Dr. Mott has a rich portfolio of academicexcellence in leading departments and programs, developing facilities,and advancing applied research and scholarship; a focus on diversity;and a commitment to student success.Previously, she served as Dean and Professor of Biological Sciences in the College of NaturalSciences and Mathematics at California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State).At the university, she developed an open collaborative leadership model, including initiatingstrategic planning for the college and departments;advocating successfully for additionalfaculty and staff positions, and prioritizing student success, undergraduate research,and faculty and staff professional development. Mott also oversaw the academic side ofconstruction of a 91 million science complex.
