Lamont's father died when he was 8 years old followed by his mother’s death when he was 14. Followingtheir deaths, he lived with his half-brother Amos Griffith in Dixfield where he learned the trade ofcarriage making from him. He moved to Hartland after C/1860 working in the Linn Woolen Mill and wasliving there in C/1870. He moved to Corinna by 1875 and then soon after back to Hartland by 1877where he remained. In 1883 he operated a carriage making business with Daniel Sawyer on Main Streeton the lower side of the bridge. Fannie's brother, George E. He also purchased the former blacksmith shop which had beenthere previously. He served as a Probate Officer and Town Clerk of Hartland. Several work order
