This combination meets performancerequirements for Grade D weather-resistive barriers in accordancewith ICC Acceptance Criteria AC38.When used as roof sheathing, ZIP System sheathing is limited toroofs with slopes of 2:12 (16.67 percent) or greater. Feltunderlayment is not required on the roof. In roof covering systemsrequiring multiple layers of underlayment, ZIP System sheathing isintended to replace only the first layer. In wall covering systemsrequiring multiple layers of water-resistive barriers, ZIP Systemsheathing is intended to replace only the first layer.ZIP System sheathing may be used for roofs and walls in Type Vconstruction, in Type III construction as roof sheathing only, andother construction permitted under the International ResidentialCode.ZIP System sheathing should not be used with adhesively-attachedEIFS, but can be used with mechanically attached EIFS. The intertwined polymer chainsprovide excellent internal strength and durability. The tape’sadvanced acrylic adhesive is made of highly polar molecules; theresulting attraction pulls the tape to the ZIP System panel. Thishelps the tape wet out and flow into panel ridges and produce aweather tight seal. The strong, yet stretchable, acrylic foam coreallows for continuous single-piece flashing around pipes, beams,rough openings and other difficult to flash applications. The ZIPSystem stretch tape satisfies the requirements of AC148 and AAMA711-13 as represented in IAPMO ER-365.The use of ZIP System stretch tape as flashing material is recognizedfor use on Type V construction under the IBC and non-fireresistance-rated construction under the IBC and IRC.SUBSTRATEPrior to application, ensure that the surface to be taped is dry andfree of frost, dust, dirt, loose fasteners, and other protrusions.
