When you choose yourPCP, you are also choosingthe hospital(s) and specialtynetwork affiliated with thephysician group.The network providers listed inthis directory have agreed toprovide you with your healthcare and/or dental services.You may go to any of ournetwork providers listed in thisdirectory, however, someservices may require areferral. Themedical symptoms may bean illness, injury, severe pain,or a medical condition that isquickly getting much worse.Make sure that Blue Shieldknows about your emergencybecause your physician willneed to be involved infollowing up on youremergency care.If you need medical helpimmediately but your health isnot in serious danger, the helpyou need is called “urgentlyneeded services”. If you are inyour plan’s service areaplease call your PCP or, if yourphysician’s office is closed, goto any urgent care facilitylisted in this directory oraffiliated with your physiciangroup.If you are outside the planservice area, first call yourPCP whenever possible. If youare treated for a conditionthat meets the definition ofurgently needed serviceswhile you are outside the planservice area, we prefer thatyou return to the service areato get follow-up care throughyour PCP.
