A Message FromTHE FOUNDATIONUnparalleled Commitment in Uncertain TimesAt Donaldson, our employees’ dedication to helping each other and our communities is ingrainedin our culture. While the world still contends with an uncertain environment largely due to theCOVID-19 pandemic, this dedication remains unwavering. Working together as One Donaldson, wemade a difference in our communities in ways big and small – from hand-sewing masks, to hostingon-site vaccination clinics for employees, to donating funds to help victims of the devastatingflooding in Europe.The Donaldson Foundation, led by committed employee volunteer board members – many workingin new ways, in new places – remained focused on positively impacting our communities througheducation. For 55 years, the Foundation has served as Donaldson’s main philanthropic vehicleconcentrating on: Supporting education initiatives for those with little or no access to essential learningresources and opportunities. Providing matching grants to educational institutions. Providing scholarships for post-secondary education. Partnering with our plant communities to address and support local educational efforts.During fiscal year 2021, the Donaldson Foundation distributed a total of 1.2 million to nonprofitorganizations with the majority directed to meeting educational needs, with one notableexception – for the second year in a row, the Foundation contributed 100,000 to humanitarianaid organization Direct Relief for global COVID-19 medical response and treatment efforts. OverviewSupporting Equal Access to EducationOrganizational GrantsThe Donaldson Foundation provides funding to nonprofit organizations andprograms that further educational initiatives for students of all ages. Throughgrants, the Foundation strives to provide equitable access to STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering and Math) education to increase youth engagementand opportunities in these areas of study.United WayThe Foundation’s initiative to support communities where Donaldson employeeslive and work is also realized through contributions to United Way through anemployee match program.ScholarshipsDonaldson Foundation scholarships have assisted thousands of students intheir post-secondary schooling since the program was established in 1981.Administered by Scholarship America, the program provides scholarships tochildren of Donaldson employees enrolled in accredited two- or four-year postsecondary institutions. The amount awarded is based on academic achievement,leadership and participation within school and the community, as well asfinancial need. The scholarship can range from 2,000 to 3,000, and may berenewed for up to three additional years.Matching GiftsEach year the Foundation makes contributions to eligible educational institutionsequal to the amount donated by a Donaldson employee. Gifts are typicallymatched in any amount from 25 up to 1,000.SpotlightAdvancing STEM with Hands-on Learning OpportunitiesDonaldson’s Baldwin, Wisconsin, manufacturing facility presented a 15,600check to local Hudson High School on behalf of the Donaldson Foundation.The grant will fund the completion of the school’s metals program equipmentupgrade, and will be used to purchase modern, advanced equipment for themetals classroom, including four welders, a pedestal grinder and ten weldinghelmets, replacing decades-old equipment.2021 ANNUAL REPORT3

While the Donaldson Foundation initially focusedon providing grants to U.S.-based educational initiatives, today internationalgrant-making is an increasingly important aspect of the funding process. In2021, one of the international grantees that received funding was the Hand toHand Foundation. Hand to Hand provides free preschool and scholarships tochildren living in extreme poverty in Pattaya, Thailand. An 11,000 grant wasawarded to the organization, which provided free preschool to 46 children andscholarships to 84 older children, making it possible for them to attend school.2021 ANNUAL REPORT5

United WayHelping Our Neighbors in NeedDonaldson U.S. employees and retirees, along with the Foundation, provide significant support to communitieswhere we live and work through contributions to the United Way . Club students work toward building a practical solarcar and strive to inspire future generations to pursue their passionsthrough education. Providing COVID-19 Relief 100kGrantThe Donaldson Foundation typically awards an annual 100,000 grant to helpfurther educational initiatives in U.S. cities where our employees live and work.And the 100k Challenge awardee is determined by vote from all DonaldsonU.S. employees.However, due to the continued global coronavirus crisis, the 100k Challengefunds were again redirected to nonprofit Direct Relief in support of globalcoronavirus medical response and treatment efforts. This second 100,000foundation grant will help the humanitarian organization provide equipmentand resources to medical professionals on the front lines who protect theworld’s most vulnerable people.Direct Relief coordinates with public health authorities, nonprofit organizationsand businesses in the U.S. and globally to provide personal protectiveequipment, essential medical items, and emergency funding to health workersand organizations responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
