JUNIOR FAIR TAGGINGSACCESSING FAIRENTRYBEEF & DAIRY FEEDERS:There will be no tagging for Dairy and BeefFeeders in May. Calves must be dehorned andsurgically castrated. You must upload record ofyour calves vaccination in FairEntry. Fair tagsmay be picked up at the Logan County FairOffice.The Fair Entry System will be the primary andonly way that fair entries are collected in2022.You can get to the FairEntry System bygoing to https://go.osu.edu/LoCoFair. Thenchoose “FairEntry System for Logan CountyJunior Fair”.MARKET HOGS:Market hogs will need to be tagged with FairTags by 4-H advisors, FFA advisors, swinecommittee members or the fair vet by May 1.Fair tags may be picked up at the LoganCounty Fair Office.If you anyone in your family is in 4-H for 2022please log in with your 4-H Online information. Ifyou are only in FFA, then check with your AgTeacher.MARKET LAMBS & MARKET GOATS:All goats and sheep must have Scrapie ID. Wewill be using Scrapie ID’s for the fair. Goats andlambs DO NOT need to have a fair tag. Pleaseput the FULL Scrapie ID down.Any questions may be directed to the LoganCounty Fair Office at (937) 599-4178 or try are not required to have an ID butPullorum Testing OR a valid NPIP certificatemust be recorded. Market poultry will get anumber assigned to them at check-in/weigh-in.RABBITS:All breeding rabbits must have a tattoo in theleft ear. Market rabbits will be assigned anumber at check-in/weigh-in.ALL OTHER BREEDING ANIMALS:Breeding animals will need to have some sortof appropriate ID (tattoo, farm tag, scrapie, etc.)that is appropriate for their species. Somespecies require registration forms if wanting toshow purebred animals. 2022 4-H Livestock EvaluationsJune 14, 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the FairgroundsAs we get closer to June, youth will be able to schedule a 15-minute window to complete thefollowing 3 stations for Livestock Evaluations.Station #1 – Project Record BookStation #2 – Interview StationStation #3 – Breeds of the AnimalYouth will sign up and complete one book per species.For example, if a youth is showing market lambs, breeding sheep, market hogs, breedingrabbits, and market rabbits, and a dairy feeder at the Logan County Fair they only need tocomplete 4 project books:1. Either 198 Market Lamb OR 199 Sheep Breeding2. 139 Market Hog3. Either 225 Breeding Rabbit OR 226 Market Rabbit4. 177DF Beef Project: Dairy Beef Feeder (Market)FREQUENT QUESTION & ANSWERS: Dairy Feeders complete the Beef Project book not the Dairy Cattle project books. 227 Pet Rabbit project book is for youth only using their rabbits as pets. This is not foryouth who plan to show at the fair. Youth showing rabbits at the fair must take Breeding orMarket Rabbit project books. Pet Rabbits are judged with Companion Animals on June 28. Horses (except for Horseless Horse) will participate in Livestock Evaluations. You onlyneed to complete 1 book (Beginning Horse Management is split into 3 parts for 3 years). Companion Goat is like Pet Rabbit and is for youth who just use their goats as a pet andDO NOT bring their animal to the fair. They are judged as Companion Animals on June 28. Cat and Dog projects are judged with Companion Animals on June 28.HELPFUL RESOURCES:Go to https://go.osu.edu/LoganLivestock for helpful resources. There are the following foreach species:General Livestock Interview Checklist – This goes over general things for you do toprepare for the interview and judging.General Livestock Project Record Pages – Youth can use the same book from year to yearbut we do expect new record pages to be added every year. We’ve created some print outsyou can add to your book each year.Project & Record Book Guidelines – This detailed checklist goes over each project book,page by page, and walks you through what you need to complete or not.Logan County Livestock Evaluation Study Guide – This document goes through the 3stations and gives sample questions of what youth might be asked and says how many partsyouth will need to label.MAKE-UP JUDGINGIf youth are unable to make it to Livestock Evaluations, they may have their 4-H Club advisorjudge their books, conduct an interview, and check their knowledge on parts. A rubric for 4-HVolunteers to use will be coming. All youth will need to have this complete, and the ExtensionOffice will need to have record of it by June 14.APRIL 20224LOGAN COUNTY OSU EXTENSION

2022 Non-Livestock JudgingNon-Livestock Judging will be June 27th and 28th in 2021. Judging will be at the OSUExtension Office and will start at 9:00 a.m.Like in year past you will get a Logan County Judging Booklet in the mail in early to mid Junewith details about what exact time your project judging will be.
