DEEP GROOVE BEARINGS

DEEP GROOVE BEARINGSDeep Groove Bearing DesignDeep groove ball bearings have full shoulders onboth sides of the raceways of the inner and outerrings. They can accept radial loads, thrust loads ineither direction, or a combination of loads. The full shoulders and the cages used indeep groove bearings make them suitable for theaddition of closures. Besides single deep groovebearings with closures, Barden also offers duplexpairs with seals or shields on the outboard faces.Deep groove bearings are available in manysizes, with a variety of cage types. Their versatilitymakes deep groove bearings the most widelyused type.Ceramic (silicon nitride) balls can be specifiedto increase bearing stiffness, reduce vibration levelsand prolong bearing life.Flanged bearingsFlanged bearings provide solid mounting for goodaxial control and eliminate the need for housingshoulders or shoulder rings. Housings can bethrough-bored to reduce manufacturing costsand simplify assembly. When flanged bearingsare used, the housing mounting surfaces mustbe accurately machined to properly position andsupport the bearings.Fig. 1. Flanged bearings are recommended when housingdesigns cannot accommodate full bearing width or where thequality of housing bore is a concern.Barden · 12 This page folds out

DEEP GROOVE BEARINGSProduct Series Descriptions: Series R, R100, R1000, FR, 500, M and 30Series R, R100, R1000, FR, 500, M and 30Series R and R100 deep groove bearings have fullshoulders on both sides of the raceways of the innerand outer rings. They can accept radial loads, thrustloads in either direction, or combinations of loads. Theyare manufactured to inch dimensions.Series R1000 deep groove bearings have full shoulderson both sides of the raceways of the inner and outerrings. They can accept radial loads, thrust loads in eitherdirection, or combinations of loads. This series consistsof thin-section bearings with a consistent cross-sectionalheight of 3.175mm in all bore sizes to save weight andspace. Large complement of small balls also contributeslow torque characteristics.Series FR deep groove bearings have full shoulders onboth sides of the raceways of the inner and outer rings. The outer rings of Series FR bearings are flanged toprovide accurate positioning surfaces. These bearingsare easily installed in through-bored holes, eliminatingthe need for housing shoulders or shoulder rings. They are manufactured to inch dimensions. They canaccept radial loads, thrust loads in either direction,or combinations of loads.Series 500 deep groove bearings are lightweight,thin-section bearings with full shoulders on both sidesof the raceways of the inner and outer rings. They canaccept radial loads, thrust loads in either direction,or a combination of loads.Series M and 30 deep groove bearings have fullshoulders on both sides of the raceways of the innerand outer rings. They can accept radial loads, thrustloads in either direction, or combinations of loads. They are manufactured to metric dimensions.Bearing Data: Bearing data applicable to these bearings isshown in the tables beginning on page 16. Lubrication andmounting data can be found in the Engineering section.Barden · 14Cages: Series R, R100 and FR standard cage is a onepiece steel snap-in type (no symbol) up through R3. Atwo-piece ribbon cage is used for R4 and up. For otheravailable cages, see following product tables or consultBarden. Series R1000 and 500 standard cage is a onepiece phenolic snap-in type (symbol TA). Some sizes arealso available with Teflon ball separators (symbol ZA).For other cage options, consult Barden. Series 30 standardcage is a two-piece steel ribbon type (no symbol). Some sizes are also available with a one-piece phenolicsnap-in type (symbol TA) or a two-piece riveted phenolic,aluminum-reinforced type (symbol T); see table onpage 78.
