Dr. Johr will share whatwe need to know, tests we need to be awareof, and how we need to work with ourmedical team to ensure proper management and/or treatmentfor these organs.Dr. Chadwick Johr is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicinein the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvaniaand the Director of the Penn Sjögren’s Center. In fact,approximately 83% of patients suffer frommusculoskeletal pain. In this presentation,Dr. McCoy will share how Sjögren’s impactsthe musculoskeletal system, how doctorsdetermine the root of the pain, then she willoffer ideas on treatment and management.Dr. Sara McCoy is a rheumatologist and the Director of theUniversity of Wisconsin Health Sjögren’s Clinic. She is also afaculty member in the Division of Rheumatology within theDepartment of Medicine at the UW. Dr. McCoy is a currentrecipient of the Foundation’s High Impact Research Grant andwas also a 2021 recipient of the Foundation’s OutstandingAbstract Award. She publishes frequently on Sjögren’s-relatedtopics and has helped lead a team in the publication of the 2016Living with Sjögren’s survey data. Dr. Carsonswill share some of the most interesting researchhappening today, what we might learn, and howit could change the way Sjögren’s is diagnosedand treated in the future.Dr. Steven Carsons is a rheumatologist and Professor in the Dept.of Medicine and Senior Associate Dean- Research, at the NYU LongIsland School of Medicine. He is also the Chief of Rheumatology,Allergy and Immunology, NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island.He has been a long supporter and friend of the Foundation,previously serving on the Board of Directors and currentlyserves as Chair of the Foundation’s Clinical Practice GuidelinesCommittee. Dr. Baraf will also highlight whatpatients need to know about participating inclinical trials and help you understand your patient rights.Dr. Baraf is a founding member and former managing partnerof Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, one of the country’slargest private practice rheumatology groups. He founded anddirected his practice’s clinical research division, the Center forRheumatology and Bone Research, where he has served asprinciple investigator for over 400 clinical trials. He is a ClinicalProfessor of Medicine at The George Washington UniversitySchool of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicineat the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
