The Pasadena ISD EducationFoundation Board of Directorsis proud to present the 2009 Annual Report. Pleasetake a brief moment to explore our year of successand share in our dreams of providing continuedsupport to the school children and educators ofPasadena in years to come.Since 2003, the Pasadena ISD EducationFoundation has helped to bring dreams to lifefor educators and students alike while awarding 806,135.59 in the form of 239 mini-grants givenacross the district. About the Education FoundationThe Pasadena ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, which raises money to fundmini-grants awarded to district educators for innovative classroom ideas or campus programs. These learning projectswould not otherwise be funded by the regular school budget.Pasadena ISD Education FoundationYear at a GlanceBoard of Directors RetreatA new fundraiser for the foundation was fashioned afterABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Pasadena’s version,Dancing with the Principals, was a complete hit earningschools and the foundation over 60,000 collectively.Contestants danced their hearts out, but in the end, KellerMiddle School Principal Diane Phelan and her husband,Casey, were named the champions.In March, newly elected president Dana Philibert hosteda planning session at The Galvez Hotel in Galveston fordirectors to map out strategies and fundraising eventsfor the upcoming year. New directors were able to getto know the group and its policies while others enjoyedtime with old friends.Dream MakersFoundation Liaison MeetingIn May and December of 2009, the Education Foundation“Dream Makers” surprised campuses across the districtwith the awarding of 202,791.00 in the form of 58mini-grants. This festive assembly of foundationdirectors and donors brought balloons and candy alongwith an oversized check to be presented to the classroomteacher or educator(s) who submitted the grant application.The annual meeting of the foundation liaisons was heldin September for campus representatives across thedistrict. Those attending were treated to snacks providedby Chick-fil-A and given upcoming plans for thefoundation.
