What is Hauora?Hauora is a concept unique to New Zealandused to describe the four overlapping aspectsof health, which when combined, formcomplete and total wellbeing. All four aspectsof are equally important to maintain, nourishor seek support for, in order to be truly well. The branches of hauora work together, withthese being:Taha hinengaroTaha tinanaTaha whānauTaha wairuamental andemotional wellbeingphysical wellbeingsocial wellbeingspiritual wellbeing

How To Use This Guide:This quick- find guide has been developed to supportand increase the hauora of all New Zealanders, byshowcasing the free or subsidised health servicesand tools available nationwide. In most cases, the in-person services are available toNew Zealand citizens or permanent residents only, although there are many digital tools and otherresources which are accessible to everyone. The guide is broken down into four chapter, eachcentred on one of the four branches of hauora. Theinterweaving nature of hauora means that it isdifficult to strictly label each topic or provider asbeing related to just one of the four branches, soexplore the whole guide to locate the services whichwill work to support you best. Check with your localdistrict health boards for more services availableregionally. In each chapter you can find tools to either improveyour hauora, or ones which treat or offer support foran existing health issue. The services available consist of in-person assistance, directories, live chat, text, digital tools, downloads, print resources, videos, helplines or financialassistance, and are provided largely by governmentagencies, charities or not for profit organisations.
