gnirutruninspiringWhy did I start the school?Ihave been actively involved in the arena of education for the past 20 years,from teaching at the Pre-Primary and Primary levels at Rewachand BhojwaniAcademy, Pune to co-founding and heading The Orchid School, Pune for tenyears. My range of experiences has convinced me of the importance of the earlyfoundation years. I believe that children should learn and grow in a joyful andunhurried atmosphere, where each child feels accepted for who they are, cantrust others around them and feel trusted.My dream was to create a small happy school that celebrates differences,provides opportunities and space for each child to learn in different ways andlearn different skills. A school where children can speak their mind without fearand be compassionate towards self, others and the environment. Why do I want to go to The Harmony Tree?When I am here, I feel happy and safe.ŸMy school and my teachers let me – Be me!ŸI can talk, run, sing, hum, play, move, paint, dance and jump – all the things IŸI learn to read, to count, I learn about things around me.ŸI learn to share, to ask questions, to work and play in groups.ŸI need experiences not just notebooks and textbooks. Our ideologyEach child has within themselves something that makes them stand apart. Itcould be their temperament, their curiosity, their sensitivity or their wonder.During these vital early years, children collude with their environment to maketheir meanings, understand and learn.
