January Executive GreetingDear Members and Friends,It's a new year with new challenges but most of all new opportunities. This past year has been one for the record books, it took us back to reassessing who we are and what we're doingto cope with newfound challenges. I had hoped we would be into our new building this January but that too waswishful thinking. Due to delays in obtaining mechanical equipment such as air conditioning, getting permits fromthe city to do some of the more detailed work did not happen as fast as I would have liked it to. However, we aremoving forward at a steady pace and hope to see much progress in the next 30 days.(Great things are worth waiting for)I want to recognize the loyalty of our members and the support of our board of directors and all the great work thatthe staff has had to endure this past year. We are also losing 4 of our long-term board members due to term limitsin our bylaws. They will be missed as they have contributed their time, their knowledge, and their dedication.I would like to recognize Donna Lee, vice president, who has always been there with her kind heart and willingness to help wherever needed. (Thank you, Donna). Mary Breitung, vice president at large. Mary is always therefor us, she donates her time and experience as she has served on the board for many years from the early days topresent. She pushes herself to help in so many ways. Richard Prati, Board Treasurer. Richard moved to NewBraunfels and wanted to make new friends and make new friends he did. He brought his financial experience to usand helped us formulate a P&L that can be easily followed. We appreciate all you have done for us and look forward to your continued affiliation with the Senior Center. Richard was always right there to help with our fundraising activities and rolling up his sleeves to help make them successful. Finally, Bill Mehrer. Bill and I go way back to the change of times that our board has went through and he hashelped me immensely in the organizational skills that he possesses. I could always depend on Bill for guidanceand advice. Bill was someone that I could go to and discuss challenges that we were faced with, and we couldcome up with a winning solution every time. Bill has always been there, the first to sign up to volunteer to helpwith our fundraisers or deliver Meals on Wheels. We truly want to thank him for his service. We cannot forget the spouses of these board members as they were as much a part of our board as the electedmembers were. They all gave of their time and support and we hope they will continue to do so.This is not goodbye to these board members, but we want to acknowledge the great service theyhave provided you, our members and the supportof our staff and myself. We hope to see each oneof you taking part in the activities and fundraisersthe Foundation is so well known for.You will always be part of our family!THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!I would also like to welcome our newestboard members, Ali Vaughn, John Young, and Tracy Johnson. You have a tough act to followbut I know you are up for the challenge.Welcome!Ken Lowery“Enriching the Lives of Aging Adults”Executive DirectorComal County Senior Citizens Foundation
