DATA SHEETFortiSwitch Data Center SeriesAvailable in:ApplianceHighlightsnnnnnSecure, Simple, Scalable Ethernet SolutionFortiSwitch Data Center switches deliver a secure, simple, scalable Ethernet solution with outstanding throughput, resiliency, and scalability. Virtualization and cloud computinghave created dense high-bandwidth Ethernet networkingrequirements. FortiSwitch Data Center switches meet thesechallenges by providing a high-performance 10 GE, 40 GE, or100 GE capable switching platform, with a low total cost ofownership. Ideal for Top of Rack server or firewall aggregationapplications, as well as SD-Branch network core deployments, these switches are purpose-built to meet the needs of today’sbandwidth-intensive environments.nnnnHigh throughput Ethernetswitch suitable for Top of Rackor large SD-Branch networkdeploymentsCompact 1 RU form factor1GE, 2.5GE, 5GE, 10GE, 40GE,and 100GE capable accessportsFixed 10GE copper port option40GE or 100GE capableuplinks with breakout supportfor 2x50G, 4x25G, 4x10G, and4x1GFortiGate managementthrough FortiLink, enabling theSecurity FabricStackable up to 300 switchesper FortiGate depending onmodelDual hot-swappable powersupplies for redundancySupports wire-speed switchingwith both store and forwardand cut-through forwardingmodesSecurity Fabric Integration Through FortiLinkThe FortiSwitch Data Center Series supports FortiGate managementthrough FortiLink, extending the Fortinet Security Fabric to theEthernet port level. This link allows the same policies configuredand applied to FortiGate interfaces to be applied to the FortiSwitchEthernet ports, reducing complexity and decreasing managementcost. With network security and access layer functions enabled and managedthrough a single console, centralized policy management, including role-basedaccess and control, are easy to implement and manage. Users or devices can beauthenticated against the same database and have the same security policy appliedregardless of how or where they connect to the network.Product OfferingsFortiSwitch FS-1024D,FS-1024E, FS-T1024E,FS-1048E, FS-3032E1

DATA SHEET FortiSwitch Data Center SeriesDEPLOYMENTDeployment OverviewFortiSwitch is commonly managed and deployed through our FortiGate with FortiLink but can also be deployed and managed innon-FortiGate environments.FortiGateFortiGate management is accomplished through FortiLink,an innovative proprietary management protocol that allowsour FortiGate security appliance to seamlessly manage anyFortiSwitch. FortiLink enables the FortiSwitch to become alogical extension of the FortiGate, integrating it directly intothe Fortinet Security Fabric.Non FortiGateFortiSwitch can be managed without a FortiGate in atraditional stand-alone fashion with a native GUI andCLI interface. FortiSwitch Manager offers stacking andmanagement atscale with a networkdesign similar to aFortiGate-manageddeployment. Thisdesign supports up to2500 FortiSwitchesbut offers no trafficinspection or SecurityFabric integration.Lastly, RESTful API’soffer additionalconfiguration andmanagement tools.22
