As noted above, the judge will be Fran Stetina.Looking ahead, November is “Team Sports”, achallenging topic that means staying alert to all theactivities around you. Sports is a wide and variedactivity involving everything from Badminton to Tugof War to Roller Derby and Football. This will testyou skills at panning, anticipating the competitorsmoves and picking and setting the correct cameraadjustments. The Viewfinder Bowie-Crofton Camera ClubVolume 35, Number 1 September, 2015Remembering Richard Rohlfingby Roz Kleffman, PresidentSadly, I report the death of Richard Rohlfing onSaturday, August 1, 2015. Richard was a long-timecamera club member. He was very active on theexecutive board and was VP of How-To. Richard wasa great photographer. He won many awards andexhibited his work in many places. I loved going tothe opening receptions and seeing his latest work.Richard was the “B-CCC GO-TO guy” in the 80’s and90’s. He was proficient in darkroom technique anda phenomenal teacher of his craft. He coached andguided many new photographers in photographingand developing extraordinary photographs. Richarddid not limit himself to just 35 mm cameras. Helugged around a large format camera that was a realbeauty. He taught a series of classes on large formatphotography at the club and other teaching arenasas well. Besides being a proficient photographer, exhibitor and go-to guy, Richard was an experimenter. In 1990, Richard was the first person to jump intodigital photography and prove to the club that thiswas the wave of the future. He took a small feather, photographed it and developed a 30 x 40 inch printwith just a 1 megapixel camera. Comparisons weremade to film images and the digital won handsdown. Richard researched the digital age with gusto. He quickly learned Photoshop and promptly taughtthe rest of us. Richard actively shared his love ofphotography and knowledge with anyone. Along withhis wife Ann, Richard taught many photography classesfor Road Scholar (Elderhostel) in Florida and Georgia,Yellowstone and the beyond. R.A.R.E photographyopened the possibilities for new adventures for manyclub members. The B-CCC has lost a photographicchampion.
