2019-20SAT SCHOOL DAYStudent AnswerSheet InstructionsThis guide will help you fill out your SAT School Day answersheet—including where to send your four free score reports.Be sure to record your answers to the questions on theanswer sheet. Answers that are marked in this booklet will notbe counted.If your school has placed a personalized label on youranswer sheet, some of your information may have alreadybeen provided. You may not need to answer every question.Your instructor will read aloud and direct you to fill out theappropriate questions.ConfidentialityYour high school, school district, and state may receive yourresponses to some of the questions. Institutions that receiveyour SAT information are required to keep it confidential and tofollow College Board guidelines for using information. See theSAT School Day Student Guide for more details, including howto opt out of Student Search Service if you change your mind.Demographic and Nontest Questions1. First and Last Name This field is required for scoring.2. Testing Location This field is required for scoring.3. School This field is required and will be used to validateyour school if a processing exception occurs.4. School Code This field is required and will be provided byyour teacher or counselor on test day. It is a College Boardidentifier representing your school.5. Student Identification This field is your student IDnumber. (Do not provide your Social Security Number.) Yourinstructor will indicate whether you need to complete thisfield. If required, it is used to assist in reporting your scoresto your school, district, and state.6. Grade Level This field is required to validate your answersheet for scoring.7. Date of Birth This field is required to validate your answersheet for scoring.8. Gender This field is required to validate your answer sheetfor scoring.9. Test Type Fill in the appropriate bubble for whether youare taking the SAT with Essay or the SAT (without Essay).10–13. Home/Mailing Address These fields are optional butrecommended. Your home or mailing address is used toassist College Board in matching your answer sheet to yourCollege Board record. (If you are homeschooled, you needto provide this information so that we can mail you a copy ofyour score report.) College Board may contact you regardingthis test, and your address will be added to your record. Ifyou also opt in to Student Search Service (Field 16), youraddress will be shared with eligible colleges, universities,scholarships, and other educational programs.If you live on a U.S. military base, in Field 10, fill in your boxnumber or other designation. How Answering Questions 16 and 19–39 Helps YouWe strongly recommend that you answer Questions16 and 19–39, which are optional, because your answers: Guide your counselors and college admission officers inhelping you plan your future.Help College Board ensure that the SAT is fair andaccurate for all students.Provide information to colleges and universities tocreate a picture of the academic preparation, extra- andcocurricular involvement, and post-high-school plans ofyour graduating class.16. Student Search Service Student Search Serviceis a free, voluntary program that connects studentswith information about educational and financial aidopportunities from eligible colleges, universities,scholarships, and other educational programs. Whenyou opt in to Student Search Service, the informationthat you have provided on your answer sheet and scoreranges from your College Board exams may be shared withcolleges, universities, and scholarships that are interestedin students like you. Also, if you opt in, your email addresswill be included in your College Board student record.College Board does not share your telephone number oractual test score as part of this service. If you choose toopt in to Student Search Service, please mark “yes” onyour answer sheet. By marking “Yes,” you understand thatyour responses on the answer sheet to Questions 17, 19,23, 25–34, and 38 may be shared with eligible colleges,universities, scholarships, and other educational programsthat participate in Student Search Service. Also, if youprepare a college list on BigFuture, we may share that list, orpart of the list. Would you like us to supply your informationfor these purposes?
