2019SAT SCHOOL DAYStudent AnswerSheet InstructionsThis guide will help you fill out your SAT School Day answersheet—including where to send your four free score reports.Be sure to record your answers to the questions on theanswer sheet. Answers that are marked in this booklet willnot be counted.If your school has placed a personalized label on youranswer sheet, some of your information may have alreadybeen provided. You may not need to answer every question.Your instructor will read aloud and direct you to fill out theappropriate questions.How Answering TheseQuestions Helps YouOpting in to Student Search Service (marking “Yes” inField 15) and answering Questions 16–19 and 22–38 helpsyou connect with educational and financial aid opportunities.Through Student Search Service, eligible colleges anduniversities and scholarship and other educational programscan request information that you have provided on youranswer sheet, but they won’t receive your actual test scoresor phone number.You don’t have to respond, but we recommend that youanswer all these questions, because your answers: Guide your counselors and college admission officers inhelping you plan your future. Help the College Board ensure that the SAT is fair andaccurate for all students. Provide information to eligible colleges and universitiesto create a picture of the academic preparation, extraand cocurricular involvement, and post-high-schoolplans of your graduating class.ConfidentialityYour high school, school district, and state may receive yourresponses to some of the questions. Institutions that receiveyour SAT information are required to keep it confidential andto follow College Board guidelines for using information.Demographic and Nontest Questions1. First and Last Name This field is required to score yourtest.2. Testing Location This field is required as part of scoring.3. School This field is required and will be used to validateyour school if a processing exception occurs.4. School Code This field is required and will be providedby your teacher or counselor on test day. It is a CollegeBoard identifier representing your school.5. Student Identification This field is your state studentID number. (Do not provide your Social Security Number.)This field is required and used to assist in reporting yourscores to your school, district, and state6. Grade Level This field is required to validate your answersheet as part of scoring.7. Date of Birth This field is required to validate youranswer sheet as part of scoring.8. Sex This field is required to validate your answer sheetfor scoring.9–12. Home/Mailing Address These fields are optional butrecommended. Your home or mailing address is used toassist the College Board in matching your answer sheetto your College Board record. (If you are homeschooled,you need to provide this information so that we can mailyou a copy of your score report.) The College Board maycontact you regarding this test, and your address will beadded to your record. Score Reporting Your instructor will give you directionsfor using the Score Reporting Code List (for Field 14) tocomplete this field to send your scores to eligible colleges,universities, and scholarships. This field is optional.15. Student Search Service Fill in the appropriate bubbleto opt in to or out of Student Search Service (if you opt in,your email address will be included in your record). StudentSearch Service is a free, voluntary program that connectsstudents with information about educational and financialaid opportunities from eligible colleges and universitiesand scholarship and other educational programs. Bymarking “Yes,” you understand that your responses toQuestions 16–19 and 22–38 will be kept by the CollegeBoard and, except for your response to Question 17,may be shared with eligible colleges and universitiesand scholarship and other educational programs thatparticipate in Student Search Service. If you took anhonors, Advanced Placement (AP ), or dual enrollmentcourse in a subject, fill in the bubble in that column, too.(Dual enrollment courses offer both high school andpostsecondary credits for the same course.)
