ST.Welcome to6060 WEST LOOMIS ROAD GREENDALE, WI 53129414-421-2442 www.st-alphonsus.orgThe Precious Life of theUnborn ChildThe baby’s life in the womb is an astonishing odyssey of growth and development. As science makes clear, it is atfertilization that a new, unique and genetically complete human being comes intoexistence. From that moment onward, each of us did not grow and develop intoa human being. We grew and developedas a human being. 18–21 days after conception, beforemany women will even realize they arepregnant, the baby’s heart is beating. At 8 weeks every organ to be found in afully grown adult person is alreadyformed. At 11 weeks fingerprints and fingernailscan be clearly seen. At 12 weeks the baby’s lips open andclose. The baby can turn her or his headand move around the womb. At 16 weeks the baby reacts to sound, sucks, swallows and yawns. At 18 weeks most mothers feel the baby moving. The baby exercises her or hisdeveloping muscles by pushing with thefeet and head. The baby now sucks heror his thumb. At 24 weeks the baby continues moving, hearing and perhaps even dreaming. At 30–40 weeks the baby, if protectedfrom harm, will continue to grow biggerand stronger until it is time to be born.-USCCBTwenty-Seventh Sunday In Ordinary Time October 3, 2021November 1

The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of Glory in Heaven.11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by recitation of the Rosary.12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shallhave for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour ofdeath.14. All who recite the Rosary are my Sons, and brothers of my Only Son JesusChrist.15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.[By this the Blessed Mother means that a devotion to the Rosary is a good indication that the devotee is on the path to Heaven.]It is amazing to realize how much grace and heavenly help we can receive by an act so simpleas praying the Rosary regularly. It only takes 15 minutes to pray! Set aside time alone, with yourfamily, or with some friends, to start the habit of reciting a daily Rosary. If you don't think you havetime, try praying on the way to work in the morning. He is a worthy patron of the medical profession.A light supper and talk by Quentin Van Meter, M.D. on Transgender Care: A Reality Check. The event is free of charge, but you are asked to rsvp at: ass.St. Francis Of Assisi Feast Day October 4Saint Francis of Assisi (1181 – 1226) left a life of luxury for a life devoted to Christianity after reportedly hearing the voice of God, who commanded him to rebuild the Christian church and live in poverty. Hefounded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women's Order of St.Clare, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land.Born in 1181 in Italy, St. Francis of Assisi was renowned for drinkingand partying as a youth. During a military expedition/battle betweenAssisi and Perugia, he was captured and imprisoned for ransom. Hespent nearly a year in prison and began receiving visions from God.After his release from prison, St. Francis of Assisi claimed to haveheard the voice of Christ, who told him to restore the Christian Churchand live a life of poverty. As a result, St. Francis of Assisi abandonedhis life of luxury and became a devotee of the Catholic faith.Today, St. Francis of Assisi, known for his deep love of nature andanimals, is the patron saint of the environment and animals. EachOctober, many animals are blessed on his feast day.

4P a s t o r a lAs you may know, our theme for this school year is Philippians 4:13 “Ican do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This quote wasthe inspiration for the school mission statement: Learning, Loving andLeading through Christ and will be a focal point of our work as a schoolthroughout the year.S h a r i n g sfurther, this is about finding peace in the Lord in any circumstances. Weall know that the last year and half has been incredibly difficult for everyone, but when we see this passage from now on, I hope it reminds youto find peace and contentment in the Lord when things are not goingyour way, just as you would if they were. This quote is well known and has been used thousands of times as aninspiration and a call to strength. Typically, the use of the quote hasbeen something to the effect of getting through hard times and turningaround your situation. However, it seems that when we read the versesthat precede verse 13, we realize that maybe we are using this quoteincorrectly. In verse 11 Paul says: “Not that I speak from need, for Ihave learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.” In the nextverse he goes on to tell us that he has had little, and he has had much, but that either way he is able to find contentment through the Lord.- Russ JohnstonPrincipalThis is such a beautiful sentiment because to me this really changes themessage of this passage. Instead of a message of strength and willingour way through any problem, it is rather one of being at peace andfinding God in any situation. The misuse of this passage comes from usthinking that it is about changing our circumstances from bad to good, when really all we need to do it take peace in the Lord no matter whatwe experience. We did a study of this passage with the teachers at the school beforethe year started, and we discussed how we can use this passage toremind us to not only find the good in the positive things, but also in thehard times when finding positives is more difficult. To take it even a stepY o u t hCub Scout Popcorn &Christmas Wreath SalesCub Scout Pack #596is selling popcorn andChristmas wreathsagain this year. The cub scouts will bein the lobby after eachMass during the weekend of October 9 &10.Wreaths are also available to order online anytime at https://pack-596-wreaths.square.site/Contact Michelle Waddle at 414-517-8684(mlwaddle@gmail.com) with any questions. Please help support the St. Alphonsus CubScouts Pack #596 by ordering a wreath or buying popcorn.&S c h o o lN o t e sSchool SceneAt St. Alphonsus we usethe Second Step Guidance Program to fostersocial-emotional development, safety, and thewell-being of children. In Kindergarten, webegin with skills forlearning and listeningrules that are essentialto success in and out ofthe classroom. We practice many strategies that help us solve any problems we may have with ourfriends. The children love the large pictures with situations that lead them into great discussions. They also learn through games, songs, puppets, and role-playing. The Second StepProgram ties in nicely with our Catholic beliefs. We love one another and always do what willplease God. Yes, it is even upon the undocumented resident alienwho has no voice but ours. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are all called to protect the voiceless.Let us pray.Good and gracious God,you blew into our nostrils the breath of life. You are the One to whom we owe our very existence.Give us the courage to take that unpopular positionof protecting those who have no voice, the unborn child in the wombto the person taking his or her last breath. The life you have given us is a gift beyond measure.Embolden us to speak the truthabout protecting the child, the elderly, and the one without a voice in the public square. With thankful hearts,we ask all this of the One God,Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Amen.Question Of The WeekTheme: Fidelity in marriage reflects God’s fidelity to us.Question for Youth: What has your family taught you about God and living a faithful life?
