Pastor’s CornerPastoral CareIt is Christmas! It is the most wondrous feast—the birthdayof Jesus, who came to show us God’s love. Amid thistremendous joy, we remember those who are not with us,who are spending Christmas in Heaven.A BLESSED CHRISTMASAND A HEALTHY, HAPPYNEW YEAR!Christmas In Heaven“Yes, God so loved the world that hegave his only Son, that whoeverbelieves in him may not die but mayhave eternal life. For God did not sendthe Son into the world to condemn theworld, but that the world might besaved through him.”Tis Christmas in Heavenwhat a beautiful sight! It’s My first one here;everything is all right! The crib is adornedwith the brilliance of the star;Wisemen have come from near and far.(Gospel of St. John, ch.3)I’ve met all our dear oneswho preceded us here;the reunion was lovely,an event full of cheer. And tonight we’ll all gather,in reverence we’ll kneel, for the babe in the cradle,up in Heaven is REAL!Dear Friends,As we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the amazing love ofthe Holy Family, please know of our fervent prayers for youand your family! In these interesting days of change and the unknown, andsome anxiety and fears for the future, we stand firmly on therock of Jesus and the Holy Family! We often hear peoplesay: “I could not get through this without my family.” Well, more than ever we need our families! And we need thefamily of Jesus! And we need to remember those whostruggle with their families and those who for one reason oranother feel they have no families. We need our parishes tobe a family helping all families!I think of my family, that I left behindand I pray that your Christmas is as blessed as mine. Please shed no more tears, for my soul is at rest.Just love one another, live life to its best.Yes, it’s Christmas in Heaven,so, I’ve heard them say,Yet Christmas in Heavenhappens every day!It is no accident that when our four parishes committed toworking together we chose Family of Four as our motto! On behalf of Fr. John, Fr. Michael and myself, and the teamthat serves the Family of Four with such love, loyalty, creativity and compassion, know how grateful we are to befamily! When we are sad and waiting for consolation, how do wesee God with us? Isaiah assures us that God longs to gatherus and carry us, to offer guidance and a compassionateheart. What a comforting way to picture God being with us.Today, imagine yourself experiencing the tenderness of Godin one of these ways: resting in God’s arms as a weary onewould do with a good friend; gathered lovingly by God as alost sheep would be by a concerned shepherd; consoled byGod in an embrace of deep love by the beloved; comfortedas a child held on the lap of a parent.Sincerely, with love,Fr. TimGood Shepherd, come find me when I am lost. Gather me toyour heart when I am hurt. Protect me when I am in harm’sway. I turn to you with gratitude for your tender love. AmenMay you and your family have a Merry Christmas! Youremain in my prayers.Terri Balash, Director of Pastoral CareTo view the annualChristmas letter fromArchbishop Jerome E. Merry Christmastide!Love Thy NeighborKwanzaa is a seven-day holiday observed from December 26 to January 1 that celebrates Black culture, ancestraltraditions and fellowship. Unlike Christmas and Hanukkah, the Kwanzaa holiday is not a religious celebration; it is related toChristmas only in the proximity of its timing. Its name comes from a Swahili phrase meaning "first fruits", and the celebrationis based on harvest festival traditions from throughout Africa. Each day of Kwanzaa focuses on one of seven principles withthe goal of strengthening community: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. Milwaukee’s Kwanzaa celebration, one of the longest running in the country, primarilycelebrates young people and families while building community. If you’d like to get connected with the Racial Justice &Healing Committee that is sponsoring the “Love Thy Neighbor” articles, please email Laura Hancock at lhancock@ffpmke.org.Adult FormationEat, Drink and Be Catholic offers women and men of all ages a casualopportunity to explore the Catholic faith.
