Never drink and then drive.INSTALLATION OF RADIO TRANSMITTINGEQUIPMENTMobile radio equipment with output power greater thannormal may require special precautions.Special design considerations are incorporated into thisvehicle’s electronic system to provide immunity to radiofrequency signals. Mobile two-way radios and telephoneequipment must be installed properly by trained personnel. The following must be observed during installation.All installations should be checked for possible interference between the communications equipment and thevehicle’s electronic systems.The positive power connection should be made directlyto the battery and fused as close to the battery as possible.The negative power connection should be made to bodysheet metal adjacent to the negative battery connection.This connection should not be fused.Operating, servicing and maintaining apassenger vehicle or off-road highwaymotor vehicle can expose you to chemicalsincluding engine exhaust, carbon monoxide,phthalates, and lead, which are known tothe State of California to cause cancer andbirth defects or other reproductive harm.To minimize exposure, avoid breathingexhaust, do not idle the engine except asnecessary, service your vehicle in awell-ventilated area and wear gloves orwash your hands frequently when servicingyour vehicle. 4 INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTIONDear Customer, congratulations on selecting your newvehicle. Be assured that it represents precision workmanship, distinctive styling, and high quality.This is a specialized utility vehicle. It can go places andperform tasks that are not intended for conventional passenger vehicles. It handles and maneuvers differently frommany passenger vehicles both on-road and off-road, sotake time to become familiar with your vehicle. Ifequipped, the two-wheel drive version of this vehicle wasdesigned for on-road use only. It is not intended foroff-road driving or use in other severe conditions suited fora four-wheel drive vehicle. Before you start to drive thisvehicle, read the Owner’s Manual. Be sure you are familiarwith all vehicle controls, particularly those used for braking, steering, transmission, and transfer case shifting.Learn how your vehicle handles on different road surfaces.Your driving skills will improve with experience. Whendriving off-road, or working the vehicle, don’t overload thevehicle or expect the vehicle to overcome the natural lawsof physics. Always observe federal, state, provincial andlocal laws wherever you drive. As with other vehicles ofthis type, failure to operate this vehicle correctly may resultin loss of control or a collision. Refer to the “Driving Tips”in “Starting and Operating” for further information.This Owner’s Manual has been prepared with the assistance of service and engineering specialists to acquaint youwith the operation and maintenance of your vehicle. It issupplemented by Warranty Information, and customeroriented documents. In the attached Warranty Booklet youwill find a description of the services that FCA offers to itscustomers, the Warranty Certificate and the details of theterms and conditions for maintaining its validity. This vehicle has a higherground clearance and a higher center of gravity than manypassenger vehicles. It is capable of performing better in awide variety of off-road applications. Driven in an unsafemanner, all vehicles can go out of control. Because of thehigher center of gravity, if this vehicle is out of control itmay roll over while some other vehicles may not.Do not attempt sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers, or otherunsafe driving actions that can cause loss of vehicle control.Rollover Warning LabelFailure to use the driver and passenger seat belts provided isa major cause of severe or fatal injury. In fact, the U.S.government notes that the universal use of existing seat beltscould cut the highway death toll by 10,000 or more each yearand could reduce disabling injuries by two million annually.In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is significantly morelikely to die than a person wearing a seat belt. Always buckleup.1

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR VEHICLE 19KEYSKey FobThe key fob operates the ignition switch. Insert the squareend of the key fob into the ignition switch located on theinstrument panel and rotate to the desired position. Thekey fob also contains an emergency key, which is stored inthe rear of the key fob.Your vehicle may be equipped with a keyless ignitionsystem. The ignition system consists of a key fob withRemote Keyless Entry (RKE) and a START/STOP pushbutton ignition system. The Remote Keyless Entry systemconsists of a key fob and Keyless Enter-N-Go feature ifequipped.NOTE: The key fob may not be found if it is located nextto a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; thesedevices may block the key fob’s wireless signal.The key fob allows you to lock or unlock the doors andliftgate from distances up to approximately 66 ft (20 m)using a handheld key fob. The key fob does not need to bepointed at the vehicle to activate the system.Key Fob3

Put the nose side (side opposite of theemergency key) of the key fob against the ENGINESTART/STOP button and push to operate the ignitionswitch.NOTE: Improper disposal of key fob batteries may beharmful to the environment. Please see an authorizeddealer for proper battery disposal.To Unlock The Doors And LiftgatePush the interior door unlock button on the door panel.Push and release the unlock button on the key fob once tounlock the driver’s door or twice within five seconds tounlock all doors and the liftgate.All doors can be programmed to unlock on the first push ofthe unlock button. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multimedia” for further information.NOTE: If the vehicle is unlocked by a key fob, and no dooris opened within 60 seconds, the vehicle will re-lock and ifequipped, the security alarm will arm. Remove the battery by turning the back cover over(battery facing downward) and tapping it lightly on asolid surface such as a table or similar, then replace thebattery. When replacing the battery, match the sign onthe battery to the sign on the inside of the battery clip,located on the back cover. Avoid touching the newbattery with your fingers. Skin oils may cause batterydeterioration. If you touch a battery, clean it withrubbing alcohol.4. To assemble the key fob case, snap the two halvestogether, reposition and secure the screw as shown instep #2 for removal.

Always remove the key fobs from the vehicle andlock all doors when leaving the vehicle unattended.
