Failure to do so can lead to monetarydamages and/or criminal penalties for the individual violator. Because such violations arealso against university policies and rules, disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate.Student assessment of instruction is an important part of efforts to improve teaching andlearning. At the end of the semester, students are expected to provide feedback on thequality of instruction in this course using a standard set of university and college criteria.These evaluations are conducted online at https://evaluations.ufl.edu. Evaluations aretypically open for students to complete during the last two or three weeks of thesemester; students will be notified of the specific times when they are open. Summaryresults of these assessments are available to students at https://evaluations.ufl.edu/results.The Food and Resource Economics Department will make every attempt to resolvestudent complaints within its academic and administrative department. Please make sure to checkyour GatorCloud account periodically. We will not answer emails from non-UF accounts.Students are responsible for satisfying all academic objectives as defined by theinstructors. This requires attendance via online Zoom lectures and several out ofclassroom activities. Absences in class count from the first class meeting (i.e. Drop/Addweek). Should a student miss an assignment, the assignment will not be made up unlessan urgent issue arises preventing the student from completing the assignment on time orprior arrangements have been made with the instructor. Both require documentationand/or Dean of Students Office support/ verification. Student shall be permitted areasonable amount of time to make up the material or activities in their absence (typicallya week). Requests for make up should be made no longer than two weeks after deadline.Acceptable reasons for absence from or failure to participate in class include illness,serious family emergencies, special curricular requirements (e.g., judging trips, fieldtrips, professional conferences), military obligation, severe weather conditions, religiousholidays, and participation in official university activities such as music performances,athletic competition or debate. Absences from class for court-imposed legal obligations(e.g., jury duty or subpoena) must be excused. Other reasons also may be approved bythe instructor on a case-by-case basis and must be verified by Dean of Students. You will need toconnect to the instructor and 10 classmates on LinkedIn toreceive credit. The profile must be complete with a picture,summary, education, at least 1 item under experience, and 3skills. For more information on what is required, please seeassignment description on Canvas.Please post a short autobiography in the discussiongroup and change your profile picture within Canvas tocomplete the assignment.CAMPUS RESOURCE:Getting to know UF and the larger community early canset you up for success in your college career by beingknowledgeable of available resources.Each individual will choose 1 UF resource that has notalready been claimed (covered by 3 students) and writea description of their selected resource includingsummarizing main benefits of utilizing said resource. Inaddition to a description, students will be required tocreate a graphic communicating what that resource is.Memes are encouraged as long as they are educationaland do not bash the resource.RESUME:A great resume is not only essential to a successfulinternship/job search, but also key to obtaining variousinvolvement and leadership opportunities within theCollege and UF. If you cannot makethese events, there are make-up assignments. Excusedabsences for these activities will follow the sameguidelines as missing a class. If you have ascheduling conflict, please submit the excuse inwriting along with documentation before the end ofDrop/Add to obtain an alternative assignment.UF CAREER SHOWCASECareer Showcase is an university-wide event in whichrecruiters from across the globe come in to table at theO'Connell Center. There are two days of the event, butmost FRE students attend the non-technical day (Day1). Due to COVID-19, this event has been moved to avirtual setting. To accommodate the change in format,Career Showcase is now 4 days: Feb. 8th—11th 9AM—4PM. Students are encouraged to attend during the 8th(virtual) and 10th (in person) for best results. It isHIGHLY encouraged that you register and sign up forthe CareerFair Plus App and reserve spots ASAP.To complete the assignment, write a summary on howYOU prepared for Career Showcase includingthoughts you may have had due to the format changeof the event. Detail 3 positions you are currentlyinterested in from the list of employers at the event.Please include the reason why you are interested inthese positions and how this could help progress youtowards your professional goals.
