Why should the Chamber or any business enter into the process ofstrategic planning? The answer is simple; if you don’t know where you want to go, then how will you knowhow to get there.? That is why the Chamber continues to strategically plan. We began the journey back inOctober of 2010 when “Facilitating Opportunity” was born. Our simple, yet powerful purpose statementis leading us on a journey fraught with challenges and opportunities. Most of the challenge is getting theentire organization going in the same direction and operating under the same purpose.Ask the chairmen and members of all the committees. They have been working through, learning and moreimportantly understanding the difference between a vision, mission, strategies, goals, objectives, benchmarks, metrics, tactics, action plans, dissemination and implementation plans. Facilitating this process has beenMary Tomlinson of On Purpose Partners. Mary has utilized her skills to guide us in the right direction. Wecommend the efforts of all of our chairmen and members of these committees for their diligence and hardwork in this area. The entire organization is getting to be more “on-purpose” now.Mary’s talents will be available for all of you to experience first-hand. Mary is one of the presenters at thismonth’s “Navigate Your Way To Success” seminar on Wednesday, September 28th. This morning long seminarwill focus on Generational Marketing, Negotiating with Confidence, Social Media and Your Message andEffective Networking Strategies. This seminar is designed to cover the most up to date information neededto assist your business with the right tools for the 21st Century. In addition to On Purpose Partners attendeeswill hear from A. J. & Kiki Grossman Grossman & Grossman, P.A., Robert Fleming & Jason Johnson Marlin Consulting Solutions and Saralyn Collins The Training Bridge.Another opportunity I hope you will consider is advertising in Discover 2012. This annual publication is morevaluable than local phone books. I can say this because it contains the business directory of our membership;my first and only resource for my business referrals. Make sure you use your login information and updateyour listing today so that the hard copy directory is the most current information for your business. TheChamber team is in the process of updating all the editorial content for the entire book.A most recent update to the book is the addition of our newest Trustees. Congratulations to R.C. StevensConstruction for taking the opportunity to move up to a seldom open slot in the Community Trustee program. That movement allowed for the addition of Scott Boyd Development as our newest Supporting Trustee. Both companies join a wonderful group of businesses.I applaud their commitment to the Chamber and community and for each of you for your stake in theChamber and community as well.
