For the project, Wendy provided myriad materials – from buttons and feathers to textured paper and foam pieces—for children to create individual animal collages that were combinedinto a class mural. For a school with no art teacher and little accessto visual art supplies, this project was a unique opportunity forstudents to express themselves visually while learning requiredelements of the kindergarten social studies curriculum. The programwas part of a four-year ICARE arts integration partnership at Corlett,in which YAGC collaborated with the Western Reserve HistoricalSociety and Roots of American Music to infuse the arts into the socialstudies curriculum for every student in the K-5 school.Program Services:ICAREArtistsOtherSupport Services:Management & AdministrativeSpecial Events & DevelopmentDues & Staff Professional DevelopmentTOTAL 589,593 306,570 218,85040%21%15% 261,619 71,122 20,870 1,468,62418%5%1%Change in Net AssetsNet Assets, Beginning of YearNet Assets, End of Year 240,642 1,543,803 1,784,445

The answer issimple: the arts have the capacity tochange lives.YAGC is the fourth largest among 32chapters in the national Young Audiencesnetwork, and the only multi-arts resourcefor Northeast Ohio schools with amission to regularly involve children inthe arts as an integral part of the education and development process.Young Audiences of Greater Cleveland(YAGC) programs foster opportunities forstudents to think creatively, experiencepositive role models, build respect forothers, and enhance self-esteem. Webelieve that learning through the artsrequires focus, creativity, risk taking, perseverance and above all, TEAMWORK.We collaborate with a host of artists, teachers, school administrators, community organizations, donors, and volunteers to make our programs effective andmeaningful in fact, we couldn’t be successful without them. The following pages highlight just someof the incredible collaborations thatYAGC facilitated during the 2004-2005academic year.YAGC began its operations in 1953 bybringing chamber music performancesinto public schools. Children listened, interacted with, and questioned themusicians, eagerly learning about instruments and musical concepts. As theorganization flourished, theater anddance were added, then the visual andliterary arts. By the mid 1980s, YAGC’sprofessional artists began working sideby-side with teachers in the classroom inartist residencies in addition to the auditorium performances that comprised themajority of their work. The 1990sbrought new ideas and additional challenges—artists began to more closelyalign their art disciplines with the classroom teacher’s academic achievementneeds and curriculum standards.(1)Today, YAGC is a full-service organizationthat provides Pre-K through grade 12teachers and students with performances, workshops, long-term residencies andprofessional development designed toinfuse the arts into the school curriculumand environment. Whether it is theliterary arts, visual arts, dance, music, ortheater being used to enhance studentlearning in reading, writing, history, orthe sciences, YAGC has a range of artistsand programs to fit almost any need andbudget. We have the expertise to providecomplete and connected learning experiences while energizing an entire school.

Orseeing them share a poem or story with classmates that defines their individual personality, dreams, or challenges. There is just something gratifying about comingtogether to acknowledge artful work—especially that of children, who are discovering so much about themselves and their world in the process.Art is present all around us, but we usually experience it in connection with other people—parents, teachers, friends, community members, or the artists themselves. By their nature, the arts are collaborative. They compel us to announce, reaffirm, question,or change what we know about ourselves–and help us to better understand and connect with each other. While the arts teachchildren critical thinking skills, independence, and self-confidence, they also teach children essential partnering skills like tolerance, respect for others, and how to work in a group. At YAGC, we know that collaboration and partnership are critical to successfully infusing the arts into our children’s schools andclassrooms. For 52 years, we’ve fostered partnerships between students, teachers, and artists that have improved academic performance and enriched lives. During the last decade, YAGC has become increasingly savvy at facilitating collaborations. We broadened our approach to include local government and community partners, consortiums of regional education and cultural stakeholders, as well as national funders and programs. We are receiving local and national recognition as a facilitator—adept atbringing together diverse parties to improve and increase arts education experiences in Northeast Ohio.In the following pages, we are proud to share a few of our success stories from the last year. All are shining examples of howworking together in arts education makes a real difference in the lives and futures of our children. Our personal thanks to all of you who have come together to make our work possible. With the help of our generous sponsors, parents, educators, staff, volunteers, artists, and community partners, YAGC will continue to touch hundreds of thousands of livesthrough the arts every year.As we celebrate our accomplishments, there is still much work to be done. Your encouragement and support are essential to oursuccess. All together now!Sincerely,Leonard YoungChair, Board of DirectorsMarsha DobrzynskiExecutive Director“Coming together is a beginning;keeping together is progress;working together is success.”— Henry Ford(2)Donor- up to 99Mark and Shirley AsselJames and Marjorie BashawEllen BattleTom and Susie BauerMichael and Laura BennettRon and Marlene BishopCharles and Christy BittenbenderArthur and Lenore BlumEleanor BonnieLori BoxRobert Brody and Mary Ann Conn-BrodyLarry and Andi CarliniJeff and Pat ChokelErica CollinsNathaniel and Nancy CookeRick and Suzanne CooperNancy CrawfordJeff and Julie CristalJames and Claudia CullJia CunninghamVincetta DoonerDan and Indrani EglestonLeonard and Muriel EnteDavid and Marjorie FalkMichael and Megan FrothinghamJames and Nina GibbansRichard Goddard and Ann UnverzagtJonathan and Jenny GrahamAnna GreenfieldBob GriesMarvin Feldstein and Susan HannaCharles and Ann HerbruckGeorge and Bert HoltLaurie JacobsKeith and Karen KerrStuart and Theresia KlineStanley KlinePaul and Cindy KlugAndrew and Susan KrembsAlan and Virginia KuperMonica LacksChris and Marilyn LangmackClyde and Karen LoughridgeWendy MahonRichard and Connie ManuelKevin and Sheila MargolisCharlie and Susan MarstonWilliam and Norene MartinThomas and Marilyn McLaughlinGlen and Ida MercerJason and Christine MittonGlenn and Jerry MooreDonald MorrisonJohn and Terri ParkerElmer and Eudese PaullCarol PosnerDoris PotterBill and Sandra PowelGeralyn PrestiCourtney PriceClay and Beth RankinMary Sue ReimuellerNorman and Bridget RobbinsRichard and Maurine RugglesJames and Judith SaksWilma SalisburyJim and Joan SchattingerJohn SebastianNorine SharpLen Smith and Ann SherifEmma ShookChristine SiarkaReuben and Dorothy SilverPauline SilvermanBruce and Sue SimonsonJudy SkillicornKatherine SolenderAbram and Ruth StavitskyEarl and Nanci SteinRonald and Eugenia StraussJohn and Mary Sue TanisRia TerraNova-WebbDiana TittleDod and Annie WainwrightTracey WalkerJay and Wendy WasmanMichael and Meredith WeilNatalie WeltyMargaret WongRobert and Karen YoudelmanTributesIn memory ofMs. Tracey Walkerin memory of Lucille DukeDavid and Marjorie Falkin memory of Joseph Bolt & Mrs. Evelyn JacobsRichard Goddard and Ann Unverzagtin memory of Lyn MartahusMr. and Mrs. Reuben Silverin memory of Mary RautenbergIn honor ofMr. and Mrs. Tom Holmesin honor of Sarah HolmesMr. and Mrs. Matt Brandonin honor of Ann KentMr. Eli Manosin honor of W.
