Semester hours will beconverted to quarter credit hours using thestandard formula of semester hours x 1.5 quarter credit hours.Additional Admissions Requirements– Nursing BS degreeADMISSIONS – UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMSAdmissions RequirementsApplicants for admission must have graduated from an accredited high school,private secondary school, or have completed the equivalent (GED, HiSET, orTASC). High school transcripts in a foreign language must be translated andevaluated by a credential evaluation service for equivalency. Applicants mustpay tuition in advance if they do not qualify for financial assistance programs.Admissions Requirements – Online ProgramsAll applicants are required to complete a an assessment (SmarterMeasureOnline Readiness Assessment) with a passing score of 70% or higher for thetechnical competency portion of the assessment. All portions of the assessmentmust be completed prior to acceptance.Applicants who fail to meet the minimum score may take the SmarterMeasureassessment twenty-four hours or later after the first attempt. If the applicantfails to achieve the minimum score (70%) after two attempts, the applicantmust wait 30 days before he/she can retake the assessment. If the applicant failsto meet the minimum score for a third time they must wait 120 days (from firstattempt) to make another attempt.Applicants must also complete an Early Admissions Course (EAC). Applicantsmust submit nine required components and score 100% on the University andPolicy Quiz.Additiona lAdmissions Requirements - Medical Assisting AOS degreeAll applicants seeking admission into the Medical Assisting program arerequired to have a submitted and approved background check prior to the endof the third week of the first module. The background check is required toensure acceptance into an externship site (see Externship Requirements) andmust be approved prior to the end of your first module.Additional Admissions Requirements – Respiratory Care BS degreeTo enroll in this program, applicants must have an associate’s degree in82020 CatalogStudents seeking admission to the Bachelorof Science in Nursing program must holda valid Registered Nurse license that iscurrent, unsanctioned, or limited and shallhave completed sufficient college credit toattain the equivalent of third-year collegestatus (e.g., 60 semester credit hours or 90quarter credit hours) or be concurrentlyenrolled in an associate’s degree levelnursing program. Prospective studentsmust also have completed a minimum of22.5 quarter credits of general education.Semester hours will be converted to quartercredit hours using the standard formula ofsemester hours x 1.5 quarter credit hours.For example: 3 semester hours equal 4.5quarter credit hours.Admissions ProceduresTo apply for enrollment, the student submitsthe completed application to the Director ofAdmissions. The student should also requestthat a high school transcript or a copy of ahigh school diploma, or a GED, HiSET, orTASC for an associate’s or bachelor’s degree,be sent to the Director of Admissions. Aforeign graduate must provide a translatedand evaluated copy of a transcript. Applicantsalso may call, fax, or write the AdmissionsDepartment to request an application.Upon completion of the application and aninterview with an Admissions staff member,the Director of Admissions will review theapplicant’s goals. If it is determined that theapplicant’s educational and career goals are

not aligned with the institution’s mission, the college maydeny admission.Delivery SystemsConsortium and Articulation Agreementsbetween Affiliated SchoolsThe Center for Excellence in Higher Education (CEHE)group of schools, including Independence University,CollegeAmerica, Stevens-Henager College, and CaliforniaCollege San Diego, has consortium and articulationagreements in place that allow students enrolled at onecampus (“home campus”) to concurrently take coursesfrom any of the CEHE group of schools. All courses,grades, and attendance are recorded at the students’ homecampus. Students must take at least 50% of their courses ina program at their home campus.Undergraduate students need access to a computer andInternet service. Undergraduate students enrolling for thefirst time at the Institution are provided with a tablet and/or laptop computer that is loaded with Microsoft Officeto use during their program enrollment. Undergraduatestudents are also provided with any software required intheir program as needed.Students enrolled in graduate level programs need access to acomputer and Internet service, appropriate word processingand presentation software to complete course assignmentswill be provided.Fully Online DeliveryAll distance-learning students enrolled in fully onlinecourses will perform all assignments and exams online tocomplete each course. The instructor and the Dean, inorder to ensure appropriate educational outcomes, willmonitor these graded activities.The Internet method of delivery requires students tocomplete the distance course materials in a timely manner.A student will be permitted one module to complete acourse. Competency in the course will be determinedthrough assignments and testing.
