This issomething no one has ever had to deal with, and we are doing our best at the IHC.Because of the social distancing and we are not able have no more than tenpeople together NO GENERAL MEETING WILL HAPPEN AGAIN THIS MONTH (May).We are sending out membership invoices in June;PLEASE postdate your check to July 2, 2020. We appreciate you doing this for us.According to the Governor’s Office and CDC, it appears, we will be able to have events with up tofifty people in July (fingers crossed). We are working on the guidelines. If it is before July, we willsend out emails, post on our Facebook page, Instagram and our website.When we do open, our food handling and cleaning will be to the highest standards. I hope that wewill be opening our outdoor patio for live bands, movies, and dinners.As soon as we can resume dinner and entertainment on Friday evenings, we will have live bandsand DJ’s, Show me the Money, Carne, Movie Night and Trivia - ALL BACK!Everything is contingent upon regulations that will be required for us by the City of Portland andthe State of Maine so we can slowly open. Again, we will communicate to you via email, ourFacebook page, and the Italian Heritage Center website, as soon as we have any informationabout our reopening.Our sales office is open so call 207-772-2500 or 207-772-5831, if you have any questions, feelfree to call/email me at president@italianheritagecenter.com. We are hunkering downin our individual enclaves, but that doesn’t mean we are not thinking of our beloved IHC, its members andfamilies during these days of The Pandemic.The March 8th Jule Selbe Book Review and Signing of her novel “Find Me in Florence”,followed by a fabulous homemade Italian American Dinner, was a huge success. Recognition, specialthanks and kudos go out to our cooks Jay Scala, Jessie and Sue Savage, Marianne Reali, to Marie Pardifor the marvelous gift basket and to all the wait staff and door keeper Dennis McLaughlin for making theoccasion so enjoyable.We met for our regularly scheduled meeting on April 14th via Zoom teleconferencing. It was a heartwarming event where everyone shared stories, jokes and expressions of togetherness; albeit virtually. Wedid have an agenda and, regretfully, had to make some hard decisions regarding our upcoming scheduledevents:May 9th Italian Movie Night was cancelled / Members Art Night, April 17th was cancelledAutofest, Sept 27th was cancelled - Due to uncertainty regarding State of Maine Pandemic Guidelines and theconsiderable amount of pre planning for the event involving cash outlays, we have decided to cancel the event.The Annual Summer Outing at Ft Williams, July 26th is still tentatively scheduled to go on. But futureguidelines may force us to cancel. Rocco Ferrante will check with Cape Elizabeth to see if we can get arefund on our down payment if we must cancel. Stay tuned for further information The IHC Book Club met via Zoom on April 22 to discuss the first twelve Chapters of “The Betrothed”. Wewill read up to Chapter 27 for our next meeting on May 27th.The Library Reorganization Project is on hold till guidelines are relaxed.We virtually met again on Wednesday, April 29th just so we could see each other again, give virtual hugs,check on everyone’s wellbeing and to have fun. We had a virtual ball.

The MonaLisa is exhibited behind glass in its own room at theLouvre in Paris, where throngs of visitors march pastit every day, watching her eyes follow theirs as theyleave the room, their momentary encounter with themost famous painting behind them.Leonardo painted the portrait over a period of threeyears, between 1503 and 1506, when his model wasin her mid-twenties and he was in his fifties.
