Getting Started1. Insert a memory card or USB storage device (external memory)containing desired pictures, music, and/or video into theappropriate card slot or USB port as illustrated below. Initial Setup1. Pull tab from remote control to activate.EnglishPULLShould your remote control require a new battery, please purchasea 3 volt lithium CR2025 model for replacement. The remote controlhas battery replacement instructions stamped into the back side asillustrated below.2. Power on the picture frame and allow the picture slideshow to begin.Pressbelow.button once to view the MAIN MENU as illustrated

EnglishSelecting a Memory SourceThe HP Digital Picture Frame can play back content from internal andexternal memory devices such as USB flash drives and memory cardstypically used with digital cameras. More than one external memorydevice can be inserted at any given time. However, content from onlyone memory source can be selected for playback.To select the desired picture source, there are many methods to get tothe memory source selection menu.1. In slideshow or browse mode: Press2. In MAIN MENU mode: Pressbutton twice.button Once.This will display the memory source screen as illustratedbelow. Note: The screen may differ depending on typeand number of external memory devices that are inserted.orSD/MMC Card only3. UseorSD/MMC card, Compact Flash,and USB Flash Drive inserted.to highlight the desired memory sourceto select. This will bring up the MAIN MENUicon. Pressfor the memory source just selected.13

Picture Rotate and ZoomPicture RotationEnglishPictures will be automatically rotated based on the frame orientation.button inPictures can be manually rotated by pressing theslideshow or browse mode. Note: if a picture is rotated while inslideshow mode, the frame will automatically enter into photo browsemode. Each press of this button will rotate the picture by 90 degrees tothe right.Pressto resume slideshow modePicture Zoombutton in slideshowPictures can be zoomed to 5X by pressing theor browse mode. Each press of this button will increase the zoom by1X until 5X. At 5X, press this button ONCE to return to the originalview. Note: if a picture is zoomed while in slideshow mode, the framewill automatically enter into photo browse mode.Once in zoom mode, use the arrow buttons to position the picture fordesired viewing.Pressto resume slideshow mode.15

Copying and Deleting PicturesCopying pictures onto frame internal memorybegin in a few seconds. Pressbrowse mode or pressbutton once to enter picturebutton twice to enter thumbnailmode. At the desired picture, press thethe copy/delete menu as shown below.button to display‘Copy picture to’ will be highlighted in blue. Presstoagain to copy the desireddisplay Internal Memory. Presspicture onto the frame’s internal memory. A Finished text box willbe displayed indicating the picture is now in the internal memoryas illustrated below.FinishedPressto return to photo browse mode. Useorto select another picture and repeat above step to copy to internalmemory.Pressto resume slideshow.16EnglishFrom an external memory device: With the picture frame poweredoff, insert an external memory device with the preferred picturesinto the appropriate connector. Turn the picture frame powerON and a slideshow from the external memory will automatically

EnglishCopying pictures onto frame internal memoryFrom a PC/laptop: For the first connection, it is recommended toremove all external memory sources.Power on the HP Digital Picture Frame. Go to the SETUP MENU(see Initial Setup) and set the USB Mode to PC. Connect the HPDigital Picture Frame to your Windows 2000 (with service pack4 or greater), Windows XP (with Service Pack 2 or greater), orWindows Vista PC/notebook by using the USB cable providedwith the product. 3 new drive letters should appear in WindowsExplorer. These new drive letters represent the Digital PictureFrame’s internal memory, memory card slot 1, and memory cardslot 2. (see illustration below):The digital picture frame will display the graphic below:1 of the 3 new drive letters is the HP Digital Picture Frame’sinternal memory and labeled HP df720, df780, df820 or df1000(depending on your photo frame model). Drive letter assignmentMAY vary from PC to PC.17

Use standard Windows explorer file copy and paste proceduresto move content onto the frame’s internal memory.When finished copying pictures, disconnect the PC/laptop byindouble-clicking on the Safely Remove Hardware iconthe lower right on the screen of the PC/Laptop. This will displaythe menu as illustrated below.Highlight the HP df720, df780, df820 or df1000 drive andthen click on the Stop button. After notification, unplug theUSB 2.0 cable from both the PC/Laptop and the pictureframe.18EnglishTo check the picture frame's available memory, right click onthe HP df720, df780, df820 or df1000 drive letter and selectProperties. A properties menu will appear displaying theavailable/free space (in Mega Bytes [MB]).

EnglishDeleting pictures from internal or external memoryPictures can be deleted from internal and external memorysources in the same manner as it was added. Before deleting apicture or pictures, it is important to select the desired memorysource (see Selecting a Memory Source section for details).Select the desired picture to be deleted and press thebutton to display the copy/delete menu. Pressto display the YES and NO text.‘Delete picture’ text. PressUseto highlightto highlight the desired action. If YES is highlighted,to delete the desired picture from memory. The picturepresswill disappear and the next picture (if additional pictures areavailable) will be displayed.twice to delete this image or pressPressphoto browse mode.to return toIf the frame is connected to a PC or laptop as previouslydescribed in Copying pictures - From a PC/laptop section, picturescan be deleted using standard Windows explorer file deleteprocedures.19

Printing with PictBridge The PictBridge function allows you to connect the digital picture frameto a PictBridge photo printer via USB for quality photo printing.Connect the HP Digital Picture Frame to your PictBridge photo printerby using the USB cable provided with the product. A message willappear on the screen to indicate that the printer connection is detected.In the browse mode, UsePressorto access the desired photo., select OK and pressto start printing.20EnglishGo to the SETUP MENU (see Initial Setup) and set the USB Mode toPrinter.

Music PlaybackGo to the MAIN MENU (see Initial Setup section). Go to the MAIN MENU (see Initial Setup section) and press thebutton. If compatible video files are available, playbackof the first (if more than one file) will begin. The default playback mode is to play from first to lastclip then repeat until stopped. Pressto adjust volume.orto select other clips, and use Pressto play the selected clip. Pressto pause playback. Pressto return to the MAIN MENU screen.2. Go to the MAIN MENU (see Initial Setup section).Use theorto highlight theicon then press.The frame will display a list of supported video clips/files foundon the selected memory source as illustrated below.23
