However, not all clouds are createdequal, and organizations should be cautious about the waytheir data is handled by software vendors.Standard SaaS products like LogMeIn Rescue run the trafficof multiple customers on a single instance of the software,creating a higher risk of conflicts as well as larger targetfor hackers. In contrast, Bomgar runs all traffic through adedicated appliance deployed either within the customer’snetwork or in a secure Bomgar datacenter.LogMeIn Rescue is predominantly issued as named seatlicenses, meaning each representative requires a dedicatedlicense regardless of usage. This increases total cost ofownership. On occasions when concurrent licensing isoffered, strict limits are placed on license sharing.Bomgar licensing is based on the number of concurrent reps,meaning only those users logged in at any one time actuallyutilize a license, and each gets their own secure account.Note: LogMeIn has recently acquired competitive product GoToAssist, leavingfuture development plans and pricing for the products uncertain.THE BOMGAR ADVANTAGEPROVIDE SUPPORT ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMSBomgar allows reps to provide support to and from nearly all of the leading operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Linuxsystems, plus iPads, iPhones, and Android devices.In contrast, LogMeIn Rescue has a number of limitations when connecting across different platforms: Linux is not supported, mobilerep consoles are not offered, and sessions on Mac systems lack a number of capabilities.SIMPLIFY SECURITY & COMPLIANCEBomgar enables IT organizations to keep tight control overwho has access to company end systems. Bomgar’s secure remote support solution enables supporttechnicians to access and fix nearly any system or device.EFFECTIVELY MANAGE SUPPORT TRAFFICUnlike LogMeIn Rescue, Bomgar enables help desks to implement skill-based routing rules that ensure end users are directed tothe most qualified representatives from the start. And when lower-tier reps need assistance, they can broadcast help requests andcollaborate with specialized support reps, increasing first call resolution. Bomgar sessions can also be initiated directly from mobiledevice apps to specific reps or teams. LogMeIn doesn’t enable intelligent session distribution or embedded app support.MANAGE & MONITOR YOUR REPSBomgar enables administrators to assignuser roles based on directory groups.Groups can be created for multiple tiers,including vendors, and administrators canmonitor reps in real time to ensure bestpractices are followed. While LogMeInRescue offers an ad hoc rep invite feature, itdoes not enable the creation of permanentvendor accounts, and no Active Directoryintegration is possible.Vendor access management with Bomgar’s Embassy functionalityCASE STUDYFlinders University needed to consolidate several remote tools down to one and provide support for both Windows and Macoperating systems. The Client Services team performed an on-site test of Bomgar Remote Support along with LogMeIn Rescueand another SaaS solution. According to the IT Client Services Manager:“By the end of the testing period, Bomgar stood out as the one solution that met all of our requirements. It was easy for ourtechnicians to understand and had more features that were useful to them. They also felt it allowed them to establish and conductthe support sessions more quickly.”

Due to a recent change in NIST federal requirements, the Bomgar solution is currently in the process of re-validation2. LogMeIn Rescue recordings may be edited/deleted by individual technicians. Bomgar recordings are securely stored on the Bomgar Box and can only be viewed by the admin orspecific individual(s) granted rights to do so by the administrator, and deletion is not possible, even by an administrator.3. When supporting iPads and iPhones, LogMeIn Rescue does not enable file transfer4. Several LogMeIn Rescue features, such as Session Recording, Reverse Screen Sharing, and Connect on LAN, are not functional when offering support to Mac systems5. LogMeIn Rescue’s team chat capabilities require reps to share an active session6. While LogMeIn Rescue does offer the ability to invite outside reps into a session on an ad hoc basis, no ongoing vendor access capabilities are offered7. Unlike Bomgar, LogMeIn Rescue requires an additional app download in order to access the end user’s camera8. LogMeIn Rescue does not enable RDP sessions, clientless sessions on remote networks, or Wake-on-LAN9. LogMeIn Rescue’s Run as Admin feature does not function on Windows 8.1, requiring reps to share admin passwords with end users for certain functions10. LogMeIn enables admins to set the maximum number of sessions a rep can handle, but no options for skill-based distribution are offered.
