Y E AR I N REVIEW Over the last 25 years, MusiCares has continuously provided a wide range of services to the music community — from emergency financial assistance toaddiction recovery resources — and the need for these programs has steadily grown. This Community Services Report is a look back at our 2014 Fiscal Year(Aug. 1 – July 31), a reflection on our achievements and an opportunity to thank our generous donors. EV E NT S & FUN DRAISIN G I N I TI ATI VES VANS WARPED TOUR SAFE HARBOR ROOMSFor the fifth consecutive year, MusiCares providedgeneral outreach and services to the Vans WarpedTour artists and crew during summer 2014. As inpast years, MusiCares Board Member and VansWarped Tour founder Kevin Lyman generouslyprovided financial support to MusiCares via ticketsales and booth/will call donations from each tourdate. To date, these efforts have resulted in raisinga grand total of more than 900,000 for MusiCaresprograms and services. Representatives who goon the road with the Warped Tour do everythingfrom hosting a MusiCares booth during the day torunning several of our Safe Harbor Room 12-stepmeetings in the evening.MUSICARES PERSONOF THE YEARMusiCares paid tribute to Carole Kingas the 24th MusiCares Person of the Yearat a stellar evening on Jan 24, 2014, inLos Angeles. A live auction featuringa one-of-a-kind book of lyrics from the1971 GRAMMY-winning album, Tapestry,all handwritten by King, kicked offthe evening before the starstudded tribute concert.Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel,the concert featuredperformances by ZacBrown, Stuart Duncan,Jakob Dylan, AmyGrant, Alicia Keys,Lady Gaga, JasonMraz, Jennifer Nettles,Pink, LeAnn Rimes,Tom Scott, JamesTaylor, Steven Tyler,will.i.am, Gloria Estefan,Jesse & Joy, MirandaLambert, Miguel, Train, MerryClayton, Lisa Fischer, Judith Hill,Darlene Love, Mindi Abair, Sara Bareilles,Kacey Musgraves, Louise Goffin, MartinaMcBride, Leah McFall, Raining Jane, andTrombone Shorty, among others. Theevening generated 6.5 million in supportof MusiCares’ vital health and humanservices programs.

EV E NT S & FUN DRAISIN G I N I TI ATI VES MUSICARES MAP FUNDThe 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concertwas held May 30, 2014, in Los Angeles and honoredOzzy Osbourne, singer/songwriterand frontman for two-timeGRAMMY-winning bandBlack Sabbath, and JeffGreenberg, owner/CEO of the Villagestudios. The annualevent was hostedby actor/comedianDax Shepardand featuredperformances byBeth Hart withChad Smith, Keb’Mo’, Metallica, andOsbourne featuringBilly Morrison, DaveNavarro and Slash.Mix Master Mike was theevening’s DJ during the dinner.Out of respect for our MusiCaresMAP Fund clients, the event was alcohol-free. Morethan 300,000 was raised for MusiCares’ addictionrecovery services.GRAMMY CHARITYONLINE AUCTIONSThroughout the year, MusiCaresbenefits from our GRAMMYCharity Online Auctions,which feature exclusive VIPexperiences and memorabilia.Highlights included thelaunch of the first-everCountry Christmas auction,in partnership with the CMAFoundation (which went livethe day of the CMA Awards),featuring memorabilia andexperiences from some of countrymusic’s brightest stars and living legends!MusiCares also brought one-of-a-kindexperiences such as a unique GrandOle Opry experience with CarrieUnderwood and a meet-andgreet with Paul McCartney! Ourauctions also featured exclusivemusic memorabilia signedby artists including Beyoncé,Daft Punk, Lady Gaga, HunterHayes, Bruno Mars, BlakeShelton, Taylor Swift, PharrellWilliams, and many more!

EV E NT S & FUN DRAISIN G I N I TI ATI VES TEEN SUBSTANCE ABUSE AWARENESSTHROUGH MUSIC CONTESTThe GRAMMY Foundation, MusiCares andthe Partnership at Drugfree.org invited thewinners of the fourth annual Teens Make MusicContest to Los Angeles to attend a specialbackstage tour while artists rehearsed for the56th Annual GRAMMY Awards, among otherevents and prizes. This year’s first, second, andthird place winners hail from Massachusetts,California and Arkansas, respectively.
