Lagniappe Country Walk to EmmausSpring 2016 NewsletterA Word from our Community Lay Director:Dear LCWE Community,First, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve on the LCWE Board, and as yourCommunity Lay Director. It has been an honor to serve our God in this way, and to serve thisamazing group of people!Your Board of Directors has been working hard making decisions that we feel are the decisionsGod would have us make for the LCWE Community. You will be happy to know that we are inthe process of getting a new database that has been designed by the Upper Room Emmaus staffin Nashville. It is perfect for an Emmaus community and will be more than helpful to us! Youwill be able to update your own information, volunteer for service opportunities, update the areas where you have served, etc. We will be letting you know when this will be available to you.Privacy will be protected as you will only have access to your own record. We have come to realize that we are experiencing some budget problems related to inflation. Weare looking at food costs, supply costs, etc. to be sure we are using the funds as efficiently aspossible. I would ask that you give generously when the offering plate is passed. The Boardwould also invite you to go to the website to give via Pay Pal, and to consider regular giving toour Emmaus community. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. You will have the opportunity to vote for 4 new Board members. Ballots will be going out soon,if you don’t have them already. Please prayerfully consider which 4 people you will vote for andreturn your ballots per the instructions on the ballot.I will be looking forward to seeing you as we serve the pilgrims on Walks #77 and 78!Blessings!JodieLagniappe Country Emmaus Community - Board of DirectorsJodie Harper—Community LayDirector, ChairPhone: 225.205.4534Email: jodieharper55@gmail.comLori Rogerson—Facilities, Vice ChairPhone: 225.938.4436Email: lorgerson1@me.comPatti Riche—Prayer, SecretaryPhone: 225.921.3260Email: pattier@cox.netPat Powers—Kitchen, TeasurerPhone: 225-933.8260Email: patsekal@gmail.comBill Drake—Gatherings/ReunionsPhone: 225.664.2897Email: auburnduck@att.netWalter Weiss—Music and EntertainmentPhone: 225.766.2867Email: walterrweiss@att.netSarah Zeringue—Team SelectionPhone: 225.266.7914Email: zeringue71@cox.netTal Lanius—Worship & AltarsPhone: 225.938.2309Email: tallanius@gmail.comRev. A WORD FROM OUR LAY DIRECTORSFrom the Lay DirectorLagniappe Country Walk to Emmaus #77To my brothers and sisters in Christ,The men of Walk #77 have come together according to God’s perfect plan. Our Team Social, TeamMeetings, Gathering Commissioning and subsequent meetings have all been successful. Each ofthem has a servant heart, and is now equipped to do the Lord’s work. The scripture verse God provided for Walk #77 is Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord, your God, is in yourmidst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in hislove; he will exult over you with loud singing. For me, this scripture is the Walk to Emmaus experience. The lord will love and protect us. We willenter into a special time of safety and blessings; Where the Messiah will reign and community willsing in his joyful presence. It is a great honor and privilege to have the trust of the Lord and the Emmaus community to undertake God’s work on Walk# 77.Your Brother in Christ, TadHallerFrom the Lay DirectorLagniappe Country Walk to Emmaus #78Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,As I write to you today I have much to be thankful for. It was with a humble heart I responded to God’s invitation to beHis representative to His daughters, the pilgrims He’s called to the Lagniappe Country Walk to Emmaus #78. It was agreat comfort to know that as the Lord called each team member all I really needed to do was walk by faith and trustthat everything would work out in His time not mine. It is no coincidence that the lay director is to give the talk on Perseverance. He has been working on me, giving me His words every step of the way. I just had to ‘let go and let God’. Ithas been a great comfort to know as we have moved through the team formation process and become the Lord’s teamwe were never alone! The Holy Spirit has been in the training room just as He will dwell among us in the conferenceroom, the sanctuary, and the dining room, everywhere we go every minute of every day of the walk! When Paul wrote to the Thessalonians, he wrote as their pastor, encouraging life in Christian community. Sound familiar? So we too are a living model of Christian community, called to bear witness. For that reason I chose a quote fromPaul’s final instructions to his new church. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tell us, ‘Be joyful always, pray continually, givethanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ Simple but powerful: joyful, pray-full and thankful always!Your prayers have under girded us all the way; I have felt them. I covet your continued prayers and support for ourteam and the women the Lord has already called to this weekend, as we model a Christian community in action.De Colores!!Cyndi Wolfe

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVEOne of the foundations of the Walk to Emmaus experience is servanthood. It is through servanthood that we experience anew, the joy andexcitement of the weekend. You don’t have to be on conference room team to be a major part of the weekend experience. The support role is theengine that drives the weekend. By contributing your time and talents, the weekend flows smoothly and everyone can experience the presence ofGod. Not just the pilgrims.EVERYONE!“How can I serve?”. . .PRAYER - Pray for the pilgrims. Pray for the team. Visit www.lcwe.org to sign up for the prayer vigil. Come to the Prayer Room at least 30minutes before each talk and pray for the speaker (times of the talks are listed on page 5). Pray at home, pray at work,.pray without ceasing!Contact Patti Riche for more information.KITCHEN - Why is working in the kitchen during the weekend so much fun? Is it the fellowship, the sense of creating, or just the experience ofserving? Whatever it is, it is essential. Your contribution is both needed and appreciated. Help out for one arrangement, aday or the whole weekend!
