September 18, 2022 – Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary TimeFirst Reading: Amos 8: 4-7The prophet condemns the hypocrites who only observe the Sabbath by not working on the day of thenew moon, but quickly plot to cheat the poor people by their clever use of various weights.Second Reading: I Timothy 2: 1-8Paul urges the community to pray for the emperor and other civil authorities to prove to their critics thatthey are not anti-government. The one true God desires that all human beings be saved.Gospel: Luke 16: 1-13, or 16: 10-13The shrewd steward here is an embezzler who uses his soon to be lost position to prepare for hisfuture. He is an example of how people who live by the present day culture at least have enthusiasm fortheir work. Jesus contrasts this with the dull response to God’s kingdom by some of His own disciples, the so-called “sons of light.”Reflection:Jesus calls us to look at money and possessions not as ends in themselves, but as instruments we canuse to further God’s vision for ourselves and the world. The material things I have are like a trust I do notpossess for my own sake, but as part of God’s plan for me, as a disciple of Jesus, in the world. So, we ask ourselves: Have I so made money and career so much a part of my life that I have little time for God? How am I using my talents and possessions to further the God’s reign of love and justice?Readings for the Week – September 18, 2022Monday: Prv 3:27-34; Ps 15:2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5; Lk 8:16-18Tuesday: Prv 21:1-6, 10-13; Ps 119:1, 27, 30, 34, 35, 44; Lk 8:19-21Wednesday: Eph 4:1-7, 11-13; Ps 19:2-3, 4-5; Mt 9:9-13Thursday: Eccl 1:2-11; Ps 90:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14 and 17bc; Lk 9:7-9Friday: Eccl 3:1-11; Ps 144:1b and 2abc, 3-4; Lk 9:18-22Saturday: Eccl 11:9—12:8; Ps 90:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14 and 17; Lk 9:43b-45Sunday: Am 6:1a, 4-7; Ps 146:7, 8-9, 9-10; 1 Tm 6:11-16; Lk 16:19-31MASS INTENTIONS FOR THE WEEKSunday, September 18, 20228:30 Cyrenian Society11:30Monday, September 19, 20226:30 Sr. Margaret Denny10:00 Mass at St. JosephTuesday, September 20, 2022, Memorial of Sts.Andrew Kim Tae-gon, Priest, and Paul ChongHa-sang, and Companions, Martyrs6:3010:00 Souls in PurgatoryWednesday, September 21, 2022, Feast of St.Matthew, Apostle and evangelist6:30 Souls in Purgatory10:00 Mass at St. JosephThursday, September 22, 20226:30 Souls in Purgatory10:00Friday, September 23, 2022, Memorial of St. Pius ofPietrelcina, Priest6:30 Souls in Purgatory10:00 Mass at St. JosephSaturday, September 24, 20228:00 Josette MakidiVisit Presentation BVM Parish’s FaceBook page:REMEMBER OUR SICKPlease keep in your daily prayers, those whoare sick and in need of God’s healing touch.Joseph Affet, Sonny & Paul Andris,Matthew Balent, Bill Bambery,Debbie Chakler, Joanna DeNofa, Stanley Grey,Bob Gottschalk, Fred Henderson, Carol Jean Hertkorn,Charles and Donna Frush, Russel Kahny, Joey Lanzi,Mary Hillenbrand, Brian Hinchey, Stanley Hrynko,Ethel Iannuzzi, Donna McGonigle, Bill Mahoney,Norah Mason, Eileen Myer, Mary Ellen Murphy,Mary Rowland, Theresa Noraka, Ann Schlimer,Anthony Piotrowski, Patty Rowley, Ann Ruocchio,John Sheridan, Michael R.
