01PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONELECTRICAL CONDUITFOR USE IN POWER, TELEPHONE, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL DUCT SYSTEMSDESCRIPTIONQUALITY CONTROLJM Eagle offers a complete line of Electrical Conduitand Power Duct pipe products which include: Schedule40 and 80 Conduit (NEMA TC-2, ANSI/UL651), Encasedand Direct Burial Conduit (ASTM F512, NEMA TC-6 & 8and/or ANSI/UL 651A), and Type C Telephone Duct.JM Eagle pipe is tested in accordance with the provisions of the appropriate listed standard(s) and subjectto inspection by our quality control inspectors throughout the manufacturing process. JM Eagle’s QualityManagement System is ISO 9001:2000 registered.*Copies of the registration certificates are available onour website at http://www.jmeagle.com. * JM Eagle is in the process of obtaining the ISO 90012000 registration of Quality Management System forall locations.LONG LAYING LENGTHSAll JM Eagle Electrical Conduit and Power Duct pipeproducts are offered in 20 and/or 10 foot standard layinglengths. This means that more ground can be coveredduring installation while eliminating the cost of unnecessary joints.APPLICATIONSJM Eagle produces a wide variety of conduit pipe suitable for most applications. JM Eagle Schedule 40 and 80products are rated for 90 C conductors and conform toANSI/UL 651 and NEMA TC-2. This conduit is designedwith safety in mind and can be used in a variety of everyday applications. In addition, JM Eagle offers complimentary lines of encased and direct burial conduits for use inoutdoor applications where ASTM F512, NEMA TC-6 & 8,and/or ANSI/UL 651A specifications are required. Toround out the product line, JM Eagle offers telephoneduct for networking applications. JM Eagle telephoneduct is made in compliance with ASTM F512 and/or otherspecified specifications for consistency and safety.2ELECTRICAL CONDUITCORROSION RESISTANCEJM Eagle Electrical Conduit and Power Duct is unaffected by electrolytic or galvanic corrosion, or any knowncorrosive soil or water condition.SMOOTH INTERIORThis PVC pipe has a smooth interior that allows for wiresto be pulled through easily without hanging or binding.JM Eagle pipe is carefully designed and manufacturedto provide an interior surface that will not nick or tearthe wiring insulation.

SAVE IN HANDLING COSTSSERVICE LIFEJM Eagle PVC Electricial Conduit is designed forinstalled-cost savings. In most instances, there is noneed for costly installation equipment. Since PVC pipecan be installed with solvent weld fittings and elbows,minimizing the need to carry around pipe bendersor threaders.Since PVC does not corrode and is resistant to mostchemicals, the pipe does not lose strength due to eitherwater corrosion or external galvanic soil conditions. Inaddition, it is non-conductive and provides an additional insulation barrier to minimize electrical interference from high power lines. PVC has a very high meltindex and is a self-extinguishing material. As a result,PVC conduit may prevent ignition of fires from shortedwires or bad circuits. FIELD CUTTING AND BEVELINGYou can cut JM Eagle PVC Electrical Conduit andPower Duct pipe with a power saw or an ordinary handsaw. The pipe can also be beveled.LIGHT WEIGHTA 20 foot length of 6" Schedule 40 PVC ElectricalConduit weighs approximately 78 pounds. That makesit easy to load, easy to transport, and easy to handle.Installers prefer it because it goes into the groundquickly, thus saving on installation costs.INSTALLATIONThis product should be installed in accordance withJM Eagle’s Publication JME-07B, “Solvent Weld and ConduitInstallation Guide,” and all applicable building codes.I.P.S. O.D.Available in .5" through 6" diameter sizes, this pipe can beconnected directly to most existing fixtures and conduitswithout complicated procedures or adapters. 02SHORT FORM SPECIFICATIONELECTRICAL CONDUIT AND POWER DUCTSCOPEPIPEThis specification designates general requirements for.5" through 6" diameter unplasticized polyvinyl chloride(PVC) Electrical Conduit and Power Duct pipe for theconveyance of electrical wires in above/below groundand/or indoor applications.JM Eagle electrical products are suitable for use as electrical conduit and/or power duct. Provisions must bemade for expansion and contraction of the pipe structure.The bell section shall be designed to meet the requirements of the appropriate specification for the pipe. Sizesand dimensions shall be as shown in this specification.MATERIALSJM Eagle Schedule 40 and 80 Electrical Conduit shallbe made from quality PVC resin, compounded to providephysical and mechanical properties as defined in ANSI/UL 651 and NEMA TC-2. JM Eagle Encased and DirectBurial Conduit shall be made from quality PVC resin,compounded to provide physical and mechancial properties as defined in ASTM F512, NEMA TC-6 & 8 and/orANSI/UL 651A.STANDARD LAYING LENGTHSThe standard laying length is 10 or 20 feet for all sizesdepending on the product and shipping location.For product installation notes and procedures, pleaserefer to JM Eagle Publication JME-07B, “Solvent Weldand Conduit Installation Guide.”EXPANSION AND CONTRACTIONPVC non-metallic conduit will expand and contract withtemperature variations. The amount of movement due totemperature changes can be determined from the charton the following pages. The coefficient of thermal expansion of JM Eagle PVC conduit is 3.0 x 10 -5 in/ in/ F.
