Marking the Book ofMormonOr any other scriptures!
Make it Colorful! Start with choosing the righttype of tabs and coloringdevices. I like using ¼ thin tabs that arecolorful with erasable scripturemarking crayons. In most cases I can match thecolors well but not always. It isnot critical but looks really coolwhen done right.
Choose the Right Legend Format I really like a well formatted legend thatlooks professional and intentional. In thiscase I printed the page to match the samesize as the actual page so it aligns well. Theinsert page can be affixed using 1 or 2pieces of double-sided adhesive. (Do not usea glue stick)
Taping in the Legend Put tape on the backof the left and rightsides. Align the right edgeeven with the rightedge of the first pageof the Book ofMormon. Hold in place so itdoes not shift whenpulling the backingfrom the tape.
Alignment Lines It is not required but Ilike placing verticalalignment lines on thebook edge that alignswith the horizontallines of each topic /question on thelegend. The lines canremain or be erased ifdesired but I like tokeep them.
Questions and Topics For our purpose, each question comes from “Preach My Gospel”Chapter 5. I have included the pdf file for ease of printing. I have also included a template that can be used to mark your ownscriptures based on your own preferred topics of study. BOM Questions Legend.pdf and 30 Topic Layout.pdf
Placing TabsI place the tab so that only about 1/4 “extends past the edge of the page. Thisdoes put a lot of tab onto the page and maycover up some of the text.Choose the tab wisely that can be cut downor is clear or translucent to allow the wordsto be visible under the tab.When finished this makes for a very cleanfinished look.
Marking ScripturesI simply color down the marginas shown. This keeps the textvisible but notes which versesapply to the topic / question.
Make it Personal & Meaningful Add a personal testimony in the Book of Mormon Highlight additional scripture that is meaningful to you. Highlight the crowning event of the Book of Mormon: 3 Nephi 11 – Christ’s Visit to the Americas Remember- Our goal is to introduce them to the Book ofMormon and help them feel of the Spirit of the Book ofMormon.
