E650 S4e Upgrade KitsFirmware Upgrade KitsMeter firmware upgrades are controlled by a HardlockKey. The Hardlock Key is attached to a USB port of thecomputer. Meter upgrades are placed into the HardlockKey by contacting the factory and referencing thepurchase order for the meter upgrades. A code will begiven via phone or fax that will enable the number ofupgrades purchased. Firmware upgrades are handledusing ProPak software and the USB Hardlock Key.Load Profile Memory UpgradesThe S4e Ram or Load Profile Memory can be activatedusing ProPak software and a USB Hardlock key. TheRAM consists of 128K of memory. Once the memory isactivated with ProPak, a program with Load Profilefunction can be loaded into the meter using1132PROG/COM Software. This gives the S4e a distinctadvantage for monitoring power quality and billing data.Internal Modem Upgrade KitsThe S4e internal modem kit consists of a modemcard that is installed below the S4e main board in theS4e’s communication slot. The kit contains the modemcard, communication cable and instructions forinstallation. Once installed in the S4e meter, the modemis programmed by the 1132Prog/1132Com software.The modem may be used for remote access of the S4emeter’s billing data, load profile and for displaying themeter’s instantaneous data for real-time monitoring withthe DATAGYR EIS Energy Information System software.The modem communicates at 300, 1200, 2400 or 9600baud and can be programmed with flexible answer hours.The S4e with a modem can also be programmed toinitiate calls to report power recovery, error conditionsand more.RS-232 Interface Upgrade KitThe S4e internal RS-232 Interface Kit consists of anRS-232 card installed below the S4e board in the S4e’scommuinication slot. The kit contains the RS-232 card,communication cable and instructions for installation.Once installed in the S4e meter, the RS-232 Interface canbe used for direct RS-232 connection to the meter froma computer or external cell phone. The RS-232 interfacemay be used to extend communication with theReader/Programmer outside of the meter’s enclosurein situations where direct access to the meter’s opticalport is restricted. The Landis Gyr 1132Prog/ 1132ComReader/Programmer and DATAGYR EIS software bothsupport RS-232 connections without the need foradditional equipment installed in the computer. Thesesoftware packages can read the S4e meter’s billingand load profile data and can display the meter’sinstantaneous data for real-time monitoring. Theinterface communicates at 1200 or 9600 baud.Option Upgrade KitesAn optional input/output kit provides up to four, formC, solid-state relays and up to two external inputs forrecording pulses from a remote source. The kit consistsof the option board, retainers, connection cable andinstallation instruction. Once external input can also beused for real-time rate changes or self-read actuation.The board can be easily added in the field without theneed for special tools or soldering.
